Did you actually get 45mpg? I think it is possible with the sedan's low rpms on the highway, despite the EPA's rather low highway mark of 38mpg. My EPA rated 27mpg 2007 Dodge Caliber gave 36mpg on long highway drives.Report it

45mpg? it's not possible. not with this car, even driving 99% on the highway, on very flat roads, with only 1 person in the car, and not running the A/C except at top highway speeds around 60MPH. in other words, "hypermiling". though slightly more streamlined than the previous Versa, the little 1.6L engine isn't quite enough power and the 5th gear ratio is not set low enough to allow it to settle down to below 2500 RPMs at true highway speeds. for comparison I drove the 2011 Versa for (same drivetrain -- engine and transmission) and averaged about 31 MPG in mixed city/highway driving.Report it

Of course, the 2012 Versa sedan can reach 45mpg, if you can get 100% pure(ethanol-free) gasoline. Go to pure-gas.org to find addresses, details, & a great zoomable map to the minority of 5300+ stations(1 in every 32, & rising) still selling 100% pure gasoline. With years long accurate data & summary line-graphs of 10% ethanol blend gasoline use, our 3 cars switched to 100% pure gasoline & raised their mpg by 8.3%, 7-8% & 5%. All engines are smoother, quieter, & have more power to ascend hills, often without downshifting. That shows ethanol shouldn't be used in engines designed for maximum performance with 100% pure gasoline. All EPA mpg ratings of gasoline cars sold in America are run with 100% pure gasoline. Car manufacturers love the mpg ratings the EPA puts up for their cars. Update to my previous post: Using 100% pure gasoline, my Dodge Caliber has set its all-time high with 38mpg.Report it

I've hit 49.8 MPG driving on the interstate at 65mph. It is possible. That was the avg. mpg when I reached my destination.Report it
