My 2009 Versa SL hatchback developed a speed-sensitive "clicking/clacking/thumping" noise recently (currently has 49,000 miles). Took it in to the dealer this morning for analysis. The service rep just called and told me a new CVT has been ordered, as they are planning to swap out the defective unit. Due to the season, he estimated the ETA for the new unit to be approximately 1 week. I'll post again when I ... Read More
I have a Dodge Caliber with a similar Nissan CVT tranny to the Versa. I agree, the CVT can get good MPG, but only if true feather footing is used. Compared to other Caliber drivers who drive their CVTs 'normally' (which isn't normal, since Americans are always in a hurry), I can get 10+% better MPG. Compared to lead-footers, I get 20+% better MPG. A classic example......when starting from a stop, ... Read More
Step one... deep breath. Sometimes it seems when you have one issue with a car, other things catch your eye or ear and you wonder, "Is this bad too?" Not saying that your car isn't hesitating, but it is possible that you're just noticing something that's been there all along. I've done that myself Now, back to your actual issues. Vibrating brake pedal DOES sound like warped rotors (NOBODY makes rotors ... Read More
I bought a new 2009 Versa sedan 1.6 auto (no CVT) and after 47,000 km it is running well with no problems. The gas mileage driving in the city is not as good as expected, hwy mileage is good as long as you keep to the speed limit. Spare parts from Nissan: air filter and snow tire rims were double the cost I expected. I hope it does not break after ... Read More
I have a 2009 Versa and my windshield jsut cracked. It started in the black area, low on the window on the driver side. It is now a crack about 12 inches long. Wouldn't you thinnk Nissan would realize this is a problem and repair the windshields?
My 2009 Versa has 25,000 miles on it. I have a crack starting from below my wiper blade on the driver side that is 12 inches long. I just got back from the Nissan dealer. The service manager pointed out that a small 1/16 circular impression directly underneath the wiper blade is the reason for the crack. How does a rock hit underneath the wiper blade when it has not been ... Read More
2009 Versa SL purchased new in late november of 2008 literally off the showroom floor. Last friday I was informed by a nissan service rep who couldn't look me in the eye as the news was delivered that I needed a new engine. 70,000 kms (that's approx. 40 K miles), less than two years old, half the mileage is highway and it was never run low on oil although I did ... Passthewire, you certainly have my sympathies. I had the same frustration with my 2007 brand new 0 miles Versa. My problem was different though as it started after 6 weeks of ownership. In the winter, my car would start but would be intermitently in safe mode and wouldn't drive faster than 20 KM/HR. This drove me crazy as I never knew if I'd get where I needed to be or not. ... I bought my car 13 months ago. It was running great, but there were always little problems here and there that would annoy me... From a chipped window, faulty weather stripping, a car alarm that never works, and now, the thing wont start. Its been sitting in my driveway for the past 4 days collecting dust. I've taken it for service 3 times already for the same problem and it seems ... Read More
Reported earlier that our 2009 Versa engine was dead @ 50K miles. We used Mobil One and AMS Oil synthetic from 3K miles forward with changes @ ~10K intervals. The miles were all highway with over 100 miles per day just for work commute. Nissan replaced the engine at no charge to me. OK so while I am thankful that they replaced it.....the question is why did it need to be ... Read More
Reported same knocking + vibration when stopped at a light @32K miles. Dealer could not replicate problem or diagnose. Now @ 50K miles (all highway driving) just learned that my engine is fried. Waiting right now to see what Nissan will do for me. Used full synthetic oil but changed @10K intervals because the oil looked good and I was driving highway 110 miles per day for work. Seemed OK. FYI, ... Read More
I purchased a brand new Nissan Versa Sedan in August 2009. Since I have owned this vehicle it has been in the service department numerous times. The battery went completely dead, the air flow sensor has been replaced, the oxygen sensor has been replaced, I have had problems with the front end alignment, and the computer board has been replaced because the "check engine" light would not go off My car ... I know it's been a while since you wrote this. Mine started 600 miles earlier than yours. The Dealer says they all do that and Nissan has backed them up. Both my service writer and Service manager will not contact me. Never have I been so disappointed in a vehicle, or ever felt so shamed having to drive it. I think Nissan knows they have done a bad thing. I am ... Read More
Bought 2009 Versa. Loved it until about 2 weeks ago when the battery suddenly died. It wouldn't hold a charge. They towed it into the dealership, they said there was some kind of connection part that they replaced, but that the battery was good so they didn't put a new one in. Worked fine for a week, then wouldn't start up one day. Towed it in again, we made them replace ... Read More

Hi Flippy Hopkins, hopefully I am not too late to give you my opinion. Back in June, I was seriously considering the S model Versa with all options you mentioned, plus ABS. With the cash rebate back then ($2000), I would be able to buy a brand new one for about $14500 - $14800 OTD. I live in SF bay area and sale tax is high in CA. If you have ... Read More
I am looking at a 2009 Nissan Versa 1.8 S used with 10K miles on it. It is a year old and the warranty is the same for a new Versa, just minus a year. They are asking for $13,120 and with everything added (tax, destination charge etc) they are asking for $14,100 OTD. I ... Read More
jinsong, I just bought my 2009 Nissan Versa 1.8S hatchback automatic, with power package & cruise for $12988 OTD. Breakdown as follows 14050 dealer price 938 tax, tag transfer and doc fee 2000 incentives $12988 total I didn't think that was too bad of a deal. Also, this was purchased in NC.
I have a 2007 hatch 6-speed with just over 52,000 miles still on the original brakes and I've never run into this. But reading the service bulletin tells me why: 2007-2009 NISSAN VERSA; REAR BRAKE SQUEAL NOISE The rear brakes squeal when you: • Warm up the brakes by driving the vehicle under normal conditions for 10 minutes. • Let the vehicle sit for 15-20 minutes. • Drive the vehicle again ... A wonderful habit it is to drive a fuel-efficient car with good driving manners. I often say to my wife that, hey, we all get there, so why pollute unnecessarily in the process? On a tangential note, I recently rented a Hyundai Sonata (I4, not V6) for three days, and was pleasantly surprised to have gotten 35.2 MPG for the tank (95% highway). With a car like this, I couldn't help ... Read More
I compute my fuel economy on every tank of gas - a habit I got from my mother. I have been averaging 28-29 mpg using regular -(87 octane) fuel for the city driving. On long distance trips - with 3 adults and 1 child - I have averaged 42-44 mpg using the Air Conditioner it is 42 - w/o AC it is 44. I'm a conservative driver which means I do ... Read More

Could you tell me the detailed price information you paid on this vehicle (including the invoice, tax, rebate and so on). Thanks a lot! I want to bargain with the dealer.
Check out my post above yours. Exact same car. I had no "employee discount" and got mine 15900 out the door. That included the plate fee. I think you can get it down a bit more, but he gave you a "reasonable" offer. You should get it in writing/email and see if any other nearby dealerships can do better. Good luck!

I test drove a Versa a couple years ago--2007--because I thought it might be "similar" to the Fit I couldn't find to test drive. hi, if anybody has bought a 09 Nissan Versa S Hatchback auto trans in PA (around the phily area), please provide the breakdown of cost (including tax, title etc.), and also which dealer you bought it from. I am planning on buying my 1st car (hopefully a 2009 Nissan Versa) and appreciate your help on it. thanks.
For 2009, Nissan is offering a new base model Versa Sedan. It starts at $9,990 ($10,990 with A/C). The engine offering is a 1.6L 4-cylinder with 107 horsepower. It is not available with the CVT, only a 4-speed Automatic or 5-Speed manual, not the 6-speed manual offered in other 1.8L Versa models.
that sounds like a grate price to me since you are getting quite a bit with this car what state are you byeing from keep us updated thanks for reading Marco.
Hello, I got a quote for $13,490 (not included tax+doc fee) for 2009 Nissan versa 1.8 S 4dr/ manual, 6-spd with override/Hatchback/ABS package/mats. tax: $1264 Doc/title: $318 down payment: $2000 Is this a good deal?? Thank you for your help..
not a bad deal yea you could maby got a bit mor off but not a bad price. That is a grate dealer how did they treat you. we got an altima at that dealer ship few years ago grate car to keep us updated thanks for reading Marco.
Where did you buy the car from?
to clarify - grand total was a bit more than $15K OTD due to tax and the other usual fees. but, again, i feel you could get it for lower if you were to negotiate more than i did, i.e. i figure you could get them down to 12K/12.5K before taxes and fees. good luck. its been three weeks now with my versa and no complaints.
We were able to get a 2009 Versa SL with CVT,ABS, Splashguards and Mats for $16.039 including Destination and Doc Fee and $500 rebate. This is the total bottom line price before license plates and tax, Also for no extra charge the dealer threw in wheel locks, emergency kit and first aid kit.
Hi jv, does that include tax, doc fee, etc. or any incentives? if not, what would be the grand total that you paid this really is a very good deal I was at a dealer and they charge around 16k for HB with ABS and Power Pkg, and they said that'll be the best deal I can get for the 2009
marco - got it from nissan of garden city. i bet could get an even lower price if you negotiate well. good luck.
We bought the car from David Holland at Eastside Nissan. But, to get the best price you need to come in and sign a line saying you will buy a certain car for a certain price. Pick your target price and work your way from there. They need to see the commitment to buy, or they won't bargain with you. The best email quotes I got were around your price, if ... Read More

I got a price quote out of door : $16165 for 2009 nissan versa sedan with power package and ABS. Is this a decent deal or is it off the mark???
I would like to know if any one has bought the 2009 Nissan Versa S with Power package & ABS. Would like to know the car price and out-of-door price of this car. I live in NJ & planning to buy the same.
Bought my Versa two days ago from Nissan in Bellevue, WA. 1.8 SL CVT with Convenience, ABS packages + 5-piece mat set + aluminum kick plate. MSRP on the sticker was $18,165; invoice $17,300. the Corolla's EPA numbers make it appear that its mileage is almost identical to the Yaris/Echo's, but in real world use the smaller models are producing some fantastic figures and very few below 35, whereas many Corolla drivers report much lower numbers. Doe anyone know if stability control will be an option on 2009 models of the Versa or Sentra or is Nissan planning to wait until it's mandated by law in the year 2012?
Check some of the recent news iluv. Initially, chrysler was hoping to have the cars built by Chery in production by 2009. The recent developments or lack of development in the areas of safety and emissions has pushed it back to 2012. Chrysler is talking to other manufactures to fill this niche. I think Nissan is the likely candidate using the Versa platform.
I realize that the Aguascalientes plant isn't new per se, but my point was that the Versa is new to the Aguascalientes plant whereas the Fit is not new it's Suzuki, JP plant. Any time you bring a new car into a plant it has to be re-tooled and the workers must be retained. There's a learning curve for both the plant engineering and the labor force with a production model ... Read More
