Needed a truck for regular home owner stuff. Found this a few years ago for cheap. It's been a great truck.

Favorite Features

cheap, reliable

Suggested Improvements

I live in the southeast and running the AC in the summer makes it want to overheat. Also, the speedometer has failed somewhere around 80k (it fluctuates). I think it's a common problem with these.

This truck is awesome! I bought it with 49,000 miles on it and I now have 100K. I have had not one problem with this truck. The only thing that I have done is change the oil. I have spent $0 on repairs. The guy I bought it from ran 10w-30 fully synthetic and I continued to do as well. It doesn't leak or burn oil. I have taken this truck and buried it in mud and lakes and had to get pulled out by AAA. The truck is stock except I bought new wheels and 31" tires. 0 Problems. I think that it is amazing and would recommend this to anyone. I have owned a 87 sentra, 89 maxima, 95 hardbody, 90 300ZXTT with only 29,000 miles. I have had no problems with any of them. Nissans are the best!

Favorite Features

RELIABILITY! RELIABILITY! The way it looks. The offroad capabilities. I pretty much love everything about it.

Suggested Improvements

I know the truck is now 11 years. I wish it had more power but with what it has it does fine. Cup Holder (obviously). Gas mileage could be a little better.

Review

I have owned this truck for about six years, and have added an additional 100k to the original 85,000 miles. I have been in two wrecks with it, and sent both of the other vehicles away on flatbed wreckers before I drove this truck to the body shop. TRULY a HARD body. Holds its value too. I was shocked to find out that after the last wreck with 185,000 miles and 11 years behind it the insurance company did NOT total it. They did over 2000 dollars of repairs to it. It just keeps on going and going, and going! I wish they would bring it back into production, as I really hate the Frontier. Only toy trucks are built with plastic.

Favorite Features

I can't name them all in this short little block, so suffice to say it is going to be with me until it dies in the road, OR UNTIL I DIE MORE LIKELY.

Suggested Improvements

I agree that a cupholder would have drastically improved the interior, also a center console more like what the 1995 Pathfinder had. It was taller, and deeper.

0 problems in 196,000 miles except cracked exhaust manifold, i've worked the truck hard rev 6000 rpm for considerable time, also drove in city, interstate and tough offroad. I get 17- 21 mpg. I will not ever sell, transmission will work better with extra cooler installed. VG3.0 is a great engine, just change oil and spark plugs the rest will work forever!!! Whoever requested push button 4x4 is wrong, best thing is shifting into it!!

Favorite Features

auto locking hubs, sunroof

Suggested Improvements

cup holder, just use space between center console and seat will work,

I have just bought a new 2005 nissan truck to replace my 1995 nissan xe- pickup...Now my 1995 has 299,000 miles on it and still runs good..I feel that I really have received my moneys-worth on this truck.. the truck still has a 5- speed that hasn't needed to ever be replaced..The rear brakes are the same...Even the AC works great!!! This has been a great truck to own and I hope that my 2005 will give me the Great service that the 1995 has brought me!!!!

owned one 10 years. it got 17 miles a gallon with a 4cyl engine my new truck has a 8cyl and gets 19-21 mpg. it never broke down, but was uncomfortable to drive (i am over 6ft), was noisy, underpowered (esp. on hills) and had minor mfg defects (you could not roll down the windows and then role them back up at highway speed without the window jaming before it make it all of the way back up)

Favorite Features

Review

I bought this truck new and have been very pleased with it. It's rather basic with it's 4 cyl and 5-speed but it carries itself very well and is good on gas (26 hwy-same as when I bought it.). I've done little than routine maintenance and the only "big" dollar items I've bought have been a pair of front brake rotors at about 165,000. It's never been in a mechanic's shop. My kids can ride in the back with ease, but they will soon be outgrowing that. I'm scoping out a later model Nissan with more creature comforts but will probably keep this one since it'll probably never wear out and no one will give me what I think it's worth.

Favorite Features

Solid drive train, sporty yet practical. 4 cyl with 5-speed gives good mileage and adequate performance.

Suggested Improvements

Cup holders. Neater route for draining engine oil. PCV valve is difficult to get to.

Review

With over 151,000 miles on the truck I have had only one problem: had to replace the starter. Not bad in my opinion. I think that the V6 has plenty of powre for what I do The 4x4 system works great in the snow. The ride can be a little rough. The auto transmission shifts well and has givin me no trouble. I bought the truck originally because it was several thousand less than a comperable toyota Pickup and I'm glad that I did so. I would not hesitate to buy another Nissan but I dont think I will need to for another 50,000 miles at least.

Favorite Features

I really like the jump seats they fold up great and It makes for a lot of storage room. More leg room too if you actually have to ride back their. I also like the styling and the interior layout of the controls. Also the XT package is excellent. It gives you A/C and cruise and nothing else. GREAT

Suggested Improvements

I wish the seat slid back further for more leg room. could use a cup holder. Also the speakers could be alot better. Most of this really is not relivent because the new frontier is much improved over my hardbody but only time will tell if it is as reliable.

Review

Bought it brand new in Sep 1995. Currently have over 200,000 miles. I have no complaints on the reliability and mechanical performance of my nissan. I seem to get a little better gas mileage, approximately 22 mpg, after I put in a K&N air filter. And I would agree with the other reviewers' in that a cupholder would have been nice. Being that I am 6'2", it would have been nicer to have a bit more leg room.

Favorite Features

Exterior look of truck. Truly fits its name-Hardbody.

Suggested Improvements

None really, very well made truck
