Review

Throughout its life, we have used this truck to pull full size pickups out of ditches during snow storms, loaded the bed with enough lumber to build a 10x10 deck, and a pallet of slate stone (roughly 1 ton of stone), and on top of that dove it 150 miles a day for the daily commute. This truck RELIABLE. The body is still in good shape with a few rust spots due to the harsh snow and road salt of northeastern Ohio winters. And until just recently, (with us now in the Harsh southern sun) the paint finish was good. The clear coat is now flaking. No complaints with this truck at all. Hope we get another 300,000 miles of service.

Favorite Features

4x4, and Reliability

Suggested Improvements

NONE, just build the new trucks as dependable and as affordable as this truck.

Review

This truck is the reason I will never own a domestic. 168K miles and never even a flat tire. I change the oil every 3K miles religeously, and basic maintenance(tires, belts, hoses, and 1 clutch). This truck has crossed the country 4 times and pulled an 88 Nissan Sentra on one of those trips! I have been stopped many times in the parking lot to ask if I was selling her. Not a chance I reply. I had wonderful luck with my sentra, so I bought the truck. So, now that I am sold, I am going to buy a Frontier Crew Cab. Nissan has me as a loyal customer, and it will break my heart to let my 91 Hardbody go. Just need more space than a standard cab can offer.

Favorite Features

Original, attractive style, reliability, cost of ownership.

Suggested Improvements

After 168K miles with not so much as a flat tire, would you change anything?

I just traded my baby. Very reliable for 13 years but I needed a van. Simple design and built to last. The paint did wear off from being in the sun but that's to be expected. Excellent truck, good power, never left me stranded unless I left the lights on!

Favorite Features

Simple design, less to break.

Suggested Improvements

None, she's a peach!

An excellent runabout. Lots of power, great economy, what a pickup truck should be. No Frills, a lot of workability. Strong reliable engine.

Review

Even with less than ideal maintenance, this vehicle just keeps churning. Never has left me stranded at any time. Starts and runs strong in hot or cold. The interior wears very good and is made for driving comfort. The only gripes I have are the instrument cluster lights have gradually gone out from left to right. The bedliner mounting system leaves alot to be desired. The liner won't stay put. It slides forward leaving the back corners exposed and partially blocking the tie down hooks which by the way are extremely useful.

Favorite Features

Power, reliablility, adjustable driver's seat, recessing tie down hooks

Suggested Improvements

Better electronics, must improve the securing of the bedliner, fuel economy. Trucks this size should get better than 15/19 mpg even with the V6.

Review

I Have had this truck for 12 years, and there is a reason that I have never wanted to sell it, nothing ever breaks or goes wrong with it. Currently it has about 120,000 miles on it and it is still running strong. I firmly believe that Nissan builds their trucks to take abuse and that is what we have dished out to this little truck. From mud bogging to commuting, it has taken everything we can dish out and still is at 100%.

Favorite Features

The 134horses and the five speed.

Suggested Improvements

The Cherry red pearl paint and the body moldings have not held up so well over the years even with proper care.

Review

Purchased the truck in 1991 with 12 miles on the odometer. As the years past and I developed arthitis in my shoulders, arms, hands, hips and knees it has become difficult to drive with no power steering and manual trans. The truck now has 131,000 miles, still looks great and runs great. The only repairs in 12 years are a clutch master cylinder ($187.00) and A/C charge including belt replacement ($131.00) all other expenses were maintenance. This truck performed so well I just purchased a 2003 Nissan P/U with power steering and auto trans. Looking for another 12 years of trouble free service.

Favorite Features

Ease of maintenance. Seems the designer/builder had the do-it-yourself or professional in mind when designing tune ups, brake pad/rotor replacement, belt adjustments, etc.

Replaced timing chain assembly & rear brake shoes @ 70000 mi., significant body work @ 60000 mi., otherwise just routine maintainance for nearly 12 years. 25 mpg commuting, 30 mpg highway. Excellent second vehicle. I expect to run it for at least another 3 years.

Favorite Features

Fun to drive. Handles extremely well in snow with about 150 lbs added weight in bed.

Suggested Improvements

The driver and this truck are both too old to worry about improvements. Just hope I continue to work as well as this truck has.

No major problems. Just the belts at 65,000 miles. Interoir air vents made of plastic and fell off years ago. The dash board has cracks in it also. Overall a very reliable vehicle with just basic oil changes.
