Fuel Economy

Overall

Average in most categories the Sentra is a sensible choice for a variety of customers. The SE-R Spec V model offers modest performance for a reasonable price while base, S and SL models get the commuting done on a budget.

Dynamics

Average engine output hampered by sluggish and awkward CVT performance. Handling suffers from short-travel, underdamped suspension yet the Sentra still manages competitive handling numbers in our measured tests.

Comfort

Roomy, comfortable front seats and adequate ride quality on smooth roads make the Sentra a very usable small transport device.

Function

Modern design accommodates the iPod-packing driver in most ways. Would benefit from a second 12-volt outlet. Otherwise, adequately functional.

Design/Build Quality

Uninspired but modern exterior design matched with functional interior.

Economical Transportation First and foremost the Sentra is inexpensive transport.

Daily Commuter As good a daily commuter as can be made. Uninvolved driving experience is perfect for the uninvolved driver.

Fuel Efficient With an understressed 2.0-liter and a CVT the Sentra should be very efficient.
