I have 2004 Nissan Sentra 1.8, automatic, 36,000 miles, stalls and will not accelerate after I stop for a red light or STOP sign. This only happens when it rains. It takes a minute or more before it accelerates and takes off It also does not start right away, but takes a few cranks to ignite and turn on, this happens always. I had a mechanic check the spark plugs and ... Read More

I bought a 2004- 2006 Nissan Sentra engine for my 2005 Nissan Sentra but it would not fit my car. It would not line up in place of the original engine..Does any one know why? or how I can fix this problem?
luthfiya, the problem is your throttle body or throttle position sensor.
when i remove the gas cap on my 04 Sentra, it has a surge of pressure come from the filler tube(enough to blow fuel out). could this be the vent plugged? and where is the vent? the check engine light comes on when car is started and remains on while it is running,i am not sure if these 2 items are related though. i bought this car for my daughter 3 ... My 2004 1.8L Sentra exhibits same problem. Today I was driving and it just ceased responding to accelerator pedal. It did not shut off but I felt like it was running on idle - hence would not speed up (making others think transmission went bad). It happened months ago, too. I stopped, wated a few minutes, then it restarted. My brother-in-law who is a mechanic thinks Throttle position sensor is bad, ... Read More

I have 2007 Sentra with now 50K miles. Took in for routine pad replacement at my mechanic of 15 years who's done many on other vehicles. He put on Wagner pads. Within 3 weeks, rotors warped. Took back, resurfaced rotors, replaced pads, 3 weeks later, rotors warped with louder noise than before. Took back, replaced everything including pins with all Nissan parts, resurfaced rotors. 1 week later, noisy rotors again, but ... Read More
I scratched my head over the 2005 Sentra and that whole generation because while it had some plusses, including fuel economy and a pretty nice interior, the back seat was REALLY tight--moreso than even the prior generation. Nissan rectified that in the current design. I've leased 3 Sentras--a 1992 2-door, a 1997 4-door (both sticks), and my current 2010. They were all solid, reliable little cars. I sold my 1997 to ... NOVEMBER 2007 -- Nissan is recalling 653,910 MY 2002 and 2005-2006 Altima and Sentra vehicles equipped with 2.5L engines. If the interruption in the signal from the sensor is so brief that the electronic control module (ECM) logic does not have time to diagnose the condition, the engine may stop running without warning while ... Possibility of a completely clogged pcv valve. Surprising, but true. I own a 2005 nissan sentra 1.8 s automatic. Nissan has nothing on replacing these things, but when they clog up and can cause a pressure build-up within the engine causing it to work hard and idle higher. Please replace as soon as you can. The only other solution other than that could be a dirty throttle plate. I replace the ... Read More

Hi Anthony. Even though the 2006 Sentra currently has $2,500 customer cash available on it and the 2006 model has $1,500 on it, these cash incentives are not compatible with these cars' special lease programs. Nissan is currently only providing $750 lease cash on both the 2006 and 2005 Sentra. I would be happy to give you an idea of what this car's lease program is currently like. I mentioned in my original post that Mazda 3 will feel stronger around the city because XRS really gets the power once it switches to the high performance cam at 6000 rpm that takes it way up to 8400 rpm and you get the big jolt in the back. The power at low revs in city driving with traffic is just about as a normal compact car. So that was never ... Read More
"I think the question was more about handling and not straight line." No, you said the XRS dominated every performance test. You shouldn't have posted the acceleration figures without mentioning that the Mazda3 was an automatic. That makes a HUGE difference. "Even with manual to manual comparison for straight line performance, the margin is still big." No it's not. Other mags have tested manual versions of the 3s and they did ... Read More
You are right. The tested was auto. I think the question was more about handling and not straight line. Handling for an auto or manual does not make a difference. That is why I put the quartermile for what they had written in the article for a previously tested manual Mazda 3 2.3L 160 HP (It was tested at 16.0 secs in the quarter mile). I even quoted the weight for ... Read More
Wasn't the Mazda3 tested in the Motor Trend comparo an automatic? If so, the acceleration comparison between the manual equipped Corolla and the auto equipped Mazda3 isn't really valid.
The fact that some people here sadly call XRS suspension tuning soft tells how much they know about this car. Unlike other Corolla models, XRS capable of reaching up to speeds of 138 mph (other Corollas are governed at 110 mph). As a matter of fact Mazda 3 does not hold a candle to the XRS in any performance test. This is supposed to be a high performance model with an ... Read More

I just bought an 05 Sentra Spec V and I am loving it. The only concerns I would put up are that one: if you're tall like me (6'1"), it'll be a little tight, and two, torque steering. I have no idea. The internet information that I have read indicates that Yamaha "tunes" the engine. What does that mean? Changing the camshaft on the base 130 hp 1.8 L Toyota engine? Why does Yamaha have to tune one of Toyota's engines.
Do you mean to say that it is tuned by Yamaha? Because the same 1.8 litre engine is in the base Corolla and also Matrix. Lotus credits the 1.8 engine in the Elise to Toyota not Yamaha.
I haven't done any research on the pros/cons of each. I have taken a test drive in the Corolla XRS and it was very impressive in my opinion. I think the Spec V might have slightly better acceleration based upon published numbers. I was ready to buy the XRS right away, however, I didn't get the trade in value that I was hoping for. If you can find one (they are ... Read More

tomcat630- "Well, if the new one is coming in spring 2005 it will have to be called a 2005.5 or 2006." Perhaps thats the case, but I dont think its necessarily so. The current Sentra was introduced in February 2000 as a 2000 MY model, not a 2000.5, or a 2001. Indeed, Nissan just released pricing and model year designations for the 2004 Infiniti M45 and Q45 at the end of ... Read More

If Nissan does do an all new 2005 Sentra, I'd expect it to be late in the fall of 2004, like the Mazda 6's intro date. Some recent Asian cars that went over the "5 year cycle". You say there is no word on the redesigned Sentra yet, but this is common among the Japanese automakers (though admittedly, less so for Nissan).
