Used TMV from $3,535
Our 2003 was similar. Dealer suggested we replace the overdrive switch. We did and it made no difference. They then said the overdrive solenoid in the transmission was bad and recommended fixing that. We decided to get rid of the car. Each item costs $800 and there was no guarantee it would fix problem. If you take it to a dealer be careful and make sure they are reputable. Make sure ... Read More
I have a 2003 Sentra automatic. Transmission works fine until it shifts to overdrive. When in overdrive the transmission seems to slip. Engine RPM will climb. Transmission will then catch and RPM drops. It continues doing this. If the overdrive button is pushed to turn it off, transmission is fine. We took it to a Nissan dealership. They replaced the overdrive switch. It did not fix it. They then wanted to ... Read More
My 2003 Nissan Sentra, when checked with a code reader, indicates that there is a P0745 problem. What has to be done to the car to correct the problem indicated by this code?
hey buddie The only help I can give you right now is to find out the model # of your engine. Mine was a qr25d hopefully yours is not. I fought with nissan for months headquater executives. they said they wouldn't do a thing for me since mine was at 90,000 too. I went out and got a new car. five months after fighting with them, I filed with the bbb ... Read More
I have a Sentra SE-R, it is not v-spec, but I had only 50000 miles on my car and had to put a new motor in it. I bought a used motor only 30000 miles on it and now that it has hit 50000 like the other motor I am having problems again. First thing that started with my car im the RPM gauge dropped to zero and stayed, no other ... Read More
I need some help I've filed with the BBB Because of my 2003 spec v engine failure. Anybody thats gone this route. I want to talk to.
My 18 year old daughter totaled out 2000 toyota corolla last week. A friend of a friend has a 2003 Sentra SE with 12,000 miles on it that he wants to sell for $7,000. It belongs to his mom who is now in a nursing home. The condition is good - there are some dings and a scratch on the bumper. My big concern is that it does not have side ... Read More
What year cars are we talking about? anyhow, I'd deffinitly scratch the toyota. nothing against them, but 150k miles is a lot. sure, the engine is probably fine, but 150 is a lot of miles on things like exhaust, suspension, transmission and so on. A 150k car (any make/model) can quickly and easily nickel and dime you to death.. as for the honda and nissan, it's hard to say without knowing ... Read More
Can anyone help me locate the sunroof glass for my 2003 Nissan Sentra Spec-V? I'm not looking to purchase a new one but one from an individual parting one out or a salvage yard. Any leads are appreciated. email me at reglantz@verizon.net Thanks!
I have owned a 2003 Sentra SE-R, automatic transmission for about a year now. It has about 21,000 miles and has ran well for me ever since I purchased the car. Recently, after driving about 20 miles on a warm day, I stopped at a traffic signal, and after a good while, when the signal turned green, I went to go accelerate to continue on down the road, and the car ... OK, I have owned my 01 Sentra since 2003 (bought it second hand in perfect condition). I have been fortunate enough not to have any major issues with the vehicle, except for the brakes sticking after I parked it for 4 months, and the damn plastic tip of the dipstick broke off, Murphy's Law - I was just heading out for vacation. I have taken such good care of this car, ... Read More
I've got a 2003 Nissan Sentra and for the past two weeks I've noticed some noises. To start off, when I start the car it makes an awful sound like its coming out of an old car. Sometimes it takes 2-3 cranks to get it turned on. At the same time I notice that when I turn on my air condition or heater it makes a noise as well. Not to ... Read More
hawaii007, don't necessarily give up on the power steering idea. After you mentioned it in your recent post I did some research and came across a Nissan Technical Service Bulletin for the 2003-2004 Sentra (TSB #NTB03096) that states: "An applied vehicle has a "HISS" noise from behind the dashboard after the vehicle has been driven for about 15-20 minutes." Furthermore, it tells the technician to listen for the noise while running ... Read More

Thanks for the video. Maybe your 96 Accord is luckier than my 97 Accord. I mean it probably, magically, did not get a 90 degree direct hit by any large debris. If not: I have a few friends working for Detroit. Before I bought the 06 Sentra, one of them told me to be careful about a weaker body, since some car makers reduce the thickness of body steel in the ... Read More

Mazda 3 Toyota Corolla Honda Civic Nissan Sentra BUT... theres a new Civic debuting this fall, that looks to be a leader in safety features, though it wont be discounted too much. Additionally, there should be a few changes, but not a total redesign for the Corolla this fall. The Sentra is hopelessly outdated, having debuted in 2000. Skip it (even though I love mine, it is a version that is ... Read More
Hi everyone. I plan to buy my first car and after surfing the internet for days making researches, these are the main 2 cars that interest me: Honda Civic and Nissan Sentra. I based these choices on the look of the car through pictures, on the fact that these brands are respected and on the price range. What would you suggest between these 2 cars? Obviously at the end of the ... Read More

I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra at my check engine light has been on forever, my gas pedal sticks and my driver and passenger windows don't work they have been like that since 2003. Just buoght a new 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8 S yesterday. Did pretty good. $11,888 plus tags, tax, etc. We shopped at Nissan of Tracy in Central California. They were completely awesome, helpful, and honest, which about floored me. Quick backround.... Went in October to Heritage Ford in Modesto. Wanted a 2003 Ford Taurus SE. Nice car, wanted Thirteen something for it. Dad talked them down to 11,500. He was cosigner ... Read More

Just a comment to add to the mix: I have been buying my own cars for almost 20 years and have never been more disappointed in a car than my most recent purchase of a 2003 Sentra. I dislike the handling, the shifting, the noise, the locks, the CD player, the gas cap - even the driver's seat is no longer satisfactory. I've owned Nissans before and expected to like this ... "Overall all Nissan Dealers/ salesperson are not pleasent to deal with. Thats Why Nissan is still behind Honda & Toyota" Unless you have been to ALL Nissan dealers, you are not on ground to make this statement as you have presented it. tomcat630- "Well, if the new one is coming in spring 2005 it will have to be called a 2005.5 or 2006." Perhaps thats the case, but I dont think its necessarily so. The current Sentra was introduced in February 2000 as a 2000 MY model, not a 2000.5, or a 2001. Indeed, Nissan just released pricing and model year designations for the 2004 Infiniti M45 and Q45 at the end of ... Read More

Hi Joe, Sorry, the Yugo statement was just sarcasm. I don't know how tall you are, and if it makes a difference on seat comfort, but I'm 5'10" tall. The seats are very uncomfortable for me. It's been almost three months since I bought my 2003 Sentra LE and the car has 2,300 miles now. About 80% was short trip city driving(My job is only 2.5 miles away). Should I get the oil changed now or wait till 3,750 miles? The manual says 3,750 miles or 3 months... I didn't know Nissan used a special break-in oil out of the factory.
we are shopping for a new car. saw couple of 2003 leftovers but their prices seems out of whack. here is the spec: 2003 Nissan Sentra GXE with pwr locks, rear defroster, auto, intermittent wipers, 1.8L engine, floor mats, air, and micro filter. he listed MSRP as $16,290 and invoice as $14,969. i think the invoice price is higher than it should be. do you think i can get the car ... We own 2 of the 4 cars you mention, so I'll offer up my 2 cents' worth. You can get a 2003 Forester X dirt cheap right now. Fitzmall.com has a new 5 speed for $18,555 last time I looked. And resale is strong, keep in mind ownership costs are what you pay minus resale. My '98 still appraises for $10,500, so $8000 over 5 years is excellent. My sister just ... Read More

I hear the new 2004 will hit May 15..The pricing will be similar to 2003. They are freshening it up a a bit...new colors, new model names..1.8, 1.8S, 2.5S.. some new features..I will wait. I was going to buy 2003 2.5 LE. I suppose I should wait, but the 2003 has a $1500 rebate. I doubt if 2004 will and probably not at invoice either.
I dont know if these were intended for release yet- I got it from a box at the NY Int't Auto Show. Just got my October Car & Driver with a (sparse) review of the 2002 cars. The bad news, for us here on this forum, is that not much is happening in the low-end market next year. For some reason (profits, maybe?) the automakers are concentrating on the more expensive cars, and trucks. For those of you w/o access to this mag, here's the details (with editorial commentary, of course): * Chevy: ... Read More

I saw the G35- looks sorta like the new Altima, but this one is supposedly rear wheel drive. Looks good, but it's to be a "high-performance premium sports sedan" so I'm guessing it'll be priced close to the I35, not close to the G20. The G20 looks like it'll still continue basically the same next year. I didn't know that this site existed, and is Nissan's official site for news. I ... Read More
