The owner baled at the mechanic checks and refused to pay for any repair cost, and then I ran.. I appreciate all you nice advices, kiawah. Best regards! Rice
And if the owner balk's at the idea that some mechanic was going to look at it.....run, don't walk from the deal. Also, even after a mechanic looks at it, there is no guarantee that the vehicle won't have some problems (undoubtedly there will be). A mechanic can observe some of the obvious issues. There may be hidden issues that only show up under certain operating conditions (like won't start if ... Read More
kiawah, much appreciate your valuable advice. I will hae an independent mechanic check the car. Thank you very much.
The better deal is unabled to be determined, based upon the limited information you provided. You would need a qualified mechanic to check them over. One bad problem with either of the vehicles (like an engine or transmission problem).....or a couple smaller problems (like new CV joints, brakes, tires, shocks, waterpump/cooling) could total thousands of dollars to repair. One of the vehicles that appears initially to be a better deal, could ... Read More

Can anybody point me to a good link on how to change the brake pads on my 1998 nissan sentra? I've had the car since brand new - it now has 88K miles on it. not a bad car, not a "great" car. one thing I've always had problems with is irregular wear on the brake pads as well as the front wheels. any thoughts, ideas, and just input in general? ... I'd like to know the answer to this - I have a 1998 with 122,000 miles on it and I've never changed the timing belt. How come it isn't listed in the Nissan maintenance on-line information at missan.com?
Just buoght a new 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8 S yesterday. Did pretty good. $11,888 plus tags, tax, etc. We shopped at Nissan of Tracy in Central California. They were completely awesome, helpful, and honest, which about floored me. Quick backround.... Went in October to Heritage Ford in Modesto. Wanted a 2003 Ford Taurus SE. Nice car, wanted Thirteen something for it. Dad talked them down to 11,500. He was cosigner ... Read More
If Nissan does do an all new 2005 Sentra, I'd expect it to be late in the fall of 2004, like the Mazda 6's intro date. Some recent Asian cars that went over the "5 year cycle". The pre RSX Integra and the 1994-1999 Celica. Some were called a "new generation" because of reskins, like the 2002 Maxima, the 98 Corolla, and the 1998 Mazda 626
I bought a nissan sentra on jan. 15th and a week later it was in the shop for a bad catyalitic converter.I had to ,or have to buy an exhust manifold also, because the two comes in one piece. Its going to cost me $901.37 to have repaired.I didn`t get a chance to drive my 1998 nissan sentra but 5 five days.Eastern Carolina nissan did not want to fix it because I didn`t ... Hi all...I'm in the market for a used car and I found a 1998 Nissan Sentra GXE with 77,000 miles on it. The car is pretty good when in 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th gears, but at 60mph+ and 5th gear, it wobbles. I was told by a mechanic that it would be fixed if i did a wheel alignment and balance. What do you think? Do I make/break the deal? Thanks.
I just got this 1995 Nissan Sentra (my 1998 Mazda 626 TRANSMISSION failed) and after 2 days driving driver side window will not roll up. How do I take the "roll up handle" off so that I can take the door siding off to repair whatever is causing the deraling of the window glass? There seems to be no screw or covered screw on this roll handle and I already damaged ... Read More
You guys have been busy... major... which article are you referring to that rated the Protege ES 0-60mph in 8.9 seconds. The 1999 Protege ES review of Car and Driver November 1998 clocked the Protege with an 8.4 second run to 60mph. I'd post a link, but the Edmunds software throws a fit about the character count. Who said Mazda sales are down? As of July 2001, year-over-year sales have increased ... Read More
