I really like these vans, but have a major concern with the reliability of them. The 2005 i own burns oil and needs the top end of the motor rebuilt at 75K miles, luckily i can do this myself.. bad piston rings this early are not a good sign, after i'm done i am selling it, and going to drive my older Toyota Sienna. I have a lot of friends with ... Read More
Let me start with this, before i end up getting everyone on here jumping on my back.. I drive about 100-150K miles a year. I work in the IT field as a tech that needs a van to carry equipment around. I tend to buy minivans because they are easier to see out of then wagons, get better MPG then SUV's and are easier to park then cargo vans. With that ... Read More
Actually we have been a Nissan fan for some years. Let's see, Had a 1991 Maxima, then 1993 Sentra, then 1996 Pathfinder, then a 2004 Maxima in 2004, then we down sized for a 2000 maxima. When we found out that we were expecting our first baby, we upgraded to a 2005 Nissan Murano in 2008, then realized, that we didn't need an SUV so down sized I guess to a ... Read More

I own a 2005 Nissan Quest SE, am the second owner, have under 57K miles, extended warranty and have found a significant problem. We've had no brake problems at all. And believe me when I tell you...I'm REALLY picky when it comes to steering wheel vibration from warped rotors. We just did the rear brakes but only the pads needed changing. Hey all. I just wanted to give a little encouragement to anyone down on their Quest. Ours is an 05 SL loaded up with just over 70k miles now and it's been absolutely trouble free since day one. During the engine oil change at my Nissan dealer shop, I was advised of broken engine mount which was replaced today. (2005 Quest, 71K miles.) Hello everyone, I have 2005 Nissan Quest, 3.5S, 95K km, extended warranty, almost no problems. Currently we found it has cracked resonator(s). Janet, we have a 2004 Quest (same series as the 2005-2008) and live in Minnesota, so get comparable snow to Chicago. I agree that tires make the huge difference. Okay I need help with my 2005 Quest. I have had a horrible smell in my Quest since last August. I have taken it in to Nissan 7 times. Yeah, some little hose on the top of the engine rots away. Mine's doing the same thing. Let me search around and see if I can find a thread with more info and I'll try to edit this within the 30 minute window. I think most owners of 2004 Quests had brakes replaced before 40k miles. Most had the rotors replaced as well. The Quest has electroic brake distributin (EBD). During hard braking, the computer applies the forces over each brake to avoid the nose dive effect and allows the van to stop shorter. This also means that your rear brakes are working more than in a car without EBD. So the rear brakes ... Read More

Hi, I'm glad I found your post since I asked if anyone has recently replaced their tires on the 05 Quest SE, but got no reply so far. Can you tell me when you replace the original set of tires with the current ones (mileage)? Did the original tires wear out as badly as some people experienced (as posted in the board "Problems &Solutions")? BTW I also have the Myron&Davis DVD ... Read More
Has anybody read this article on Edmunds?: Who benefits from side and head airbags? It says: "For example, the 2004 Nissan Quest offered a head curtain airbag that covered only the first and second rows, even though it offered third-row seating. For 2005, the head curtain airbag in the Quest is large enough to protect all three rows." Is this true? I was under the impression that the 2004 has curtain ... Read More
Yesterday I went to dealer and Tech told me that this is normal with Quest. When you have fan set up at only at Face and for out side air mode then it will blow hot air from Floor Went. I told him if thats case then Nissan probably needs to change design, it should not blow hot air inside the Van. Later he took me to another brand new 2005 ... Read More
I've posted a couple of times before regarding this problem (posts # 1193 & 1221 if anyone is interested), and I think I've finally gotten it fixed (knock on wood). Here's a summary of my adventures. It's long but bear with me; hopefully it will help other having this problem. My 2004 Quest (purchased in May, 2004) now has about 16,000 miles on it. I had intermittant problems with the steering ... Read More
That sounds like something my dealer would do, to take 30 minutes to deliver the vehicle and forget to check things. I have big a really big Nissan advocate ever since I got my 2004 S, but the service department is killing me. Got a broken latch on the glove box (the one on top, ont he driver side). It's a long story, but they told me it would take an ... Read More
Yes I have a link for the trailer hitch. The site has a price and instructions on PDF format. It was not to hard. Just read the step by step. http://lib1.store.vip.sc5.yahoo.com/hitches4less/20niqu.html I would say it took me about an hour to install. You would need : 1) 3 ton jack 2) torque wrench 3) Second man to help lift the hitch. as for wiring harness I am not using one but ... Read More
Well let's start with the A/C. I have opened up a complaint with Nissan about how inadequate the A/C is - even in the Midwest. I got so feed up between how little it cools and the brake problem I will note below, that I decided to test the A/C cooling levels of various vans - since I am at my wits end with this 2004 Quest and thinking of trading, ... Does Nissan require 93 octane or will 87 work fine? Also... any experience with the mileage based on either of the above? thanks
I have a 2005 Nissan Quest that is less than 2 months old. We discovered a whistling noise coming from the driver side when the AC is on recirculation. Has anyone else had this problem? If you did, was the source of the problem found? The Dealership has had the van for 4 days and still has no clue as to what it is.
I've been reading alot of the posts here, and thought I'd weigh in on a few of the recurring topics. We bought our '04 Quest last summer, and from the very start were disappointed with the cooling of the a/c. Tepid, at best, when outside temps were above 80 degrees. Not what I'd have expected from a new car I'd just spent ~ $25K on. We never experienced the "hot air ... Read More

Hey tamu2002, I am looking at maybe buying a Quest and after the deal I was quoted yesterday I am seriously considering it. Yesterday I spoke to a salesman at Hudiberg Nissan in OKC and told him what I was wanting, for instance, leather heated seats, power front seats and liftgate (actually, power everything), dual power sliding doors, sky view, memory driver seat, single dvd, cd player and some other things. ... I have had multiple problems with my Quest from the door rattling to water leaking into the interior. We have had it in over 5 times to fix the water leaks and still have an issue. I went back to the dealer and he made an offer to buy it back and put us in a new 2005 Quest at his cost (family friend so I trust the deal) - but ... Read More
I may have infomration you might find useful as you seek solutions to your problem. When I was negotiating for the purchase of my 2005 Quest SL, the salesperson told me that Nissan had brake problems with Titan trucks and had to improve the brakes. He added that Nissan decided to improve the brakes for the 2005 Quest even though there were no issues with the brakes. I had no idea ... Read More
tamu2002 (or anyone), I'm in the PNW (north Idaho). I'll buy a 2005 Nissan Quest SE if I can find a $500-below-invoice-before-the-$2000-rebate deal. Could you please give me the names of the dealerships you know? Thank you very much!
We recently purchased a 2005 Nissan Quest 3.5S and we've been really happy as well. It seems that people who purchase the Quest love it and people that don't like the Quest hate it. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground. So far we haven't had any problems other than an intermittent rattle in the sliding doors. We also purchased the power package which isn't standard on the 3.5S in ... Read More
