2012 Nissan Pathfinder Silver Edition 4dr SUV 4WD (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

2 years old with a little under 13,000 miles. Continued happiness with the PF. Seems to be holding up and is still as solid as new. No issues as of yet (knock on wood). Replaced the headlight bulbs with super whites. Drastic improvement over stock. Let's hope it lasts, with any luck our 4 year old will be driving it, 12 years from now, of course.

Favorite Features

Manual-Drive Mode - may not be as fuel efficient as full auto, but a great feature. Towing - Pulling a ton of wood pellets is effortless. Overloaded a trailer by accident with about 3,000lbs of crushed stone - total tow weight was in excess of 4,000 lbs. Pulled great...stopping was a little challenging. If towing much over a ton, trailer brakes are highly recommended...

Suggested Improvements

Rear seat space - Would happily forego 3 - 4 inches in the cavernous trunk to gain rear seat space for kids car seat and big dog. Guessing that the new grocery getter PF has a better layout and is more family friendly. Gas Mileage - Not so great...Avg 14 - 17 in mixed driving. Using Super Non-Ethanol. The capabilities of the PF is worth the trade-off though.

2012 Nissan Pathfinder Silver Edition 4dr SUV 4WD (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

One year old with a little over 7,000 miles. No complaints and does what I need and expect it to. Driver seat leather holding up...still watching it and putting leather preservative on it monthly.

Favorite Features

Auto-shift is a great feature, especially for towing, and works very smoothly. Rear windows go ALL the way down. Extra DC plugs by passenger's left leg are handy for digital gizmos. Very versatile rear seat 'fold-ability'. Extra pockets and netting in trunk area are handy.

Suggested Improvements

The audio system has not yet grown on me. Sounds great, but the radio buttons are all over the dashboard. Plus the volume control is too close to the ignition key. I occasionally blast it when I am shutting the engine off. The volume notches are a little wide also, as it always seems to be a little too loud or just not loud enough. Minor issues though....

Review

Great in the snow.

Favorite Features

Had our first snowstorm 12/28/12. Put the PF in 4WD and effortlessy plowed through 18" drifts. Stayed straight and true in 4" of snow at 50mph on the interstate. With any wheel slip, the traction control seems to work well. Be careful in slippery/snowy conditions. If you are not comfortable 'spinning out' at all, put it in 4WD, it does not take much to end up pointing where you just came from. Just for fun...Put in 2WD, turn the traction control off and the tail end swings out nicely on snowy corners...controlled oversteer :) Remember, an SUV with 4WD does not automatically exempt it's drivers from ending up in ditches. I've seen far to many SUVs wadded into snowbanks and medians!

2012 Nissan Pathfinder LE 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Awesome truck. Bought a brand-spankin' new one Wednesday night and am happy. Took the family to the beach and was impressed with the ride and gas mileage on the freeway. My only real complaint about this thing is headlights. Very hard to see, even when using the high beams. The SatNav system is awesome as well as the information display. No USB port, but aux input is there. The overall fit and finish is really nice.. and the Nissan dealer I dealt with (Jenkins Nissan) was very accommodating and professional. People complain that this thing "rides like a truck," but that's WHAT IT IS. It's meant to be tossed around and used as such. If you want an SUV that comes with a purse, go buy a CR-V.

Favorite Features

SatNav is awesome.. love the heated steering wheel. Information given on touch-screen LCD is fantastic.. the car keeps an eye on itself. Also feel very safe riding in this truck.

Suggested Improvements

Add a USB port for iPod compatibility, remove the useless compactflash drive, would like an option for Xenon headlights.

2012 Nissan Pathfinder Silver Edition 4dr SUV 4WD (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

...continued...Towed about 1,500 lbs. of rocks for 4 hours through the Adirondacks on Sunday and achieved an admirable 19.4 mpgs. The auto-shift is great and worked smooth going up the some of the steeper hills. Parked next to a relatively new Grand Cherokee on the ferry and the PF dwarfed it even loaded down with suitcases and the trailer.

Suggested Improvements

Note...keep an eye on the driver seat leather. After only 25-30 times of getting in and out it looks like it wants to crack near the corner. I loaded it up with McGuire's leather conditioner and it looks good for now.....
