Nissan Pathfinder Transmission Problems

  • Another damaged Pathfinder

Written by: finztotheleft on Jun 20, 2011 2:06:25 PM

I started having shifting issues in my '05 Pathfinder back in February and have had it in the shop three times. I have replace sender units and such and finally the dx of the radiator and transmission issue. Of course Nissan USA is of no help nor are their customer relations team. This radiator issue for Nissan was not a matter of *if* it was going to happen however it was ... Read More

Now has been about 15 k (including the camper towing) since I flushed the tranny (about 20 qts) and replaced the radiator. No tranny rebuild. replaced 4 qts of Matic S about a month ago just for good measure (old looked ok). Runs/shifts ok, no apparent problem remains. Cant speak to potential long term effects, that's why I continue to update this forum. Nissan reimbursed me for radiator and a shxtload ... Read More

  • Nissan Radiator Recall, not reinbursing us

    Written by: fishman4 on Feb 13, 2011 3:52:18 PM

Our Transmission failed in our 05 Nissan Pathfinder in July 2010, we took it into a local transmission shop, they found radiator fluid in our tranny. We went straight to Nissan they said they knew nothing of their radiators being defective and hadn't heard of anyone elses transmission shuttering around 50 mph. So we shelled out $5000 and had our transmission replaced, Nissan didnt have any newer radiators so the shop ... Read More

  • Replaced Transmission

Written by: katray on Jan 16, 2011 2:30:36 PM

We had the same problem I have read about here with our 2005 Pathfinder. We had to have the transmission replaced in June 2010. We, as well as the transmission mechanic called Nissan to ask about an extented warranty and were told there was none. We had to take out a loan and I'm not exaggerating to say it was an awful time for our family. My husband saw a friend ... Read More

  • Happy New Year (and new radiator & transmission!)

    Written by: tjohn65 on Jan 6, 2011 5:07:15 PM

I finally brought my 2006 Pathfinder into the dealer after reading these posts for a few months. My truck with 70k miles started shuttering between 40-50mph. I drained about 4 quarts of transmission fluid out and it was slightly milky. I realize there's another 8 quarts and the whole flush process, but I wasn't about to do all that. Anyway, after the simple 4 quart switch, things were actually a little ... Read More
