2006 Nissan Pathfinder SE 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I've had my Pathfinder for two years. Yes, it has been reliable. But for about a year now I've noticed while washing it that thousands of little rust specs are seeping through the paint. There are now streaks of rust down the back of it after sitting for the week in my Michigan driveway (undriven) for the week. A two year old car should not be rusting out. Its pathetic. I can only guess they use inferior steel to save a little money. For once I'm glad its a lease.

Favorite Features

I bought it because I wanted a small SUV that held 7 passengers. I love the styling. The handling is terrific for an SUV.

Suggested Improvements

The factory radio stinks. There is no forward/backwards buttons, only seek. So you're stuck waiting 5 seconds for each channel, which wouldn't be bad except that it can't tell the difference between a station and fuzz. The fuel economy sucks as well. I average about 16 mpg in mixed driving.

First let me say that I have had Isuzu SUV's since '88, 2 troopers and a rodeo and they were the most reliable cars I have ever owned. I got the pathfinder because Isuzu left the market. Overall, I have about 43k miles on it and use if for business, everyday. Had a problem early on with oxygen sensors, dealer replaced, not a big deal. The brakes have been really poor on this truck, warped rotors at 24k miles, not covered past 18k miles. This is a lease, so not rushing to repair. Other than that, the pathfinder is comfortable, great in the snow and has plenty of power, highway and in town and a ton of room. Overall, I cant find anything better at the price, so I would do it again on a new one

Favorite Features

Engine, radio, roominess, comfort on long trips.

Suggested Improvements

Brakes, gas mileage

Review

The car is great. I have the fully loaded XE model with the navigation. Navigation was easy to use and better than other one that I used before like Lexus. The third row seat are great if I need to squeeze the little ones back there. SUV towed cars and boats with ease. Had problems getting issues fixed. For example, my heated seat work intermittently. The dealership turned it on and of course it worked. I had to make a scene with the service rep. and service manager to have their tech look at it. Same thing happened when my heater didn't work.

Favorite Features

Good towing, drives nice for SUV.

Review

I purchased my brand new 2006 Pathfinder SE with all of the package options, leather, sunroof, etc. It's been a great truck so far with no major issues, but it still has its flaws. It feels solid and strong and is very quick at the same time, however, there is nothing that irritates me more than a new vehicle that is already sounding like a cheap, old car. How do you explain noises that just started to appear after 12,000 miles? I think I'll purchase a European car again after this one goes, omething more refined.

Favorite Features

Lots of power, one of the best in its class. Roominess and practicality. Very good off road and on snow.

Suggested Improvements

Tighter fit and finish around window seals and doors, and a quieter cabin. A new car/truck shouldn't have any squeeks or rattles.

Review

I've put about 25,000 miles on this truck in the past 12 + months. I've used it for towing up to 4,000 lbs, general highway and city driving. The power is great, major mechanical is strong, but it lacks a lot in overall refinement. The seats are below average in comfort, several trips to the dealer for electrical issues, traction control issues, body trim peeling off.

Favorite Features

Engine, transmission, towing ability.

Suggested Improvements

Better seats, improve on plastic quality. Interior plastics appear very , very cheap. Interior finsh overall is very poor.

Love the ride; the steering is solid and handles curves well. Have it had for almost 1 year now. Traded '01 Nissan Quest; still wanted the room without the low to ground vehicle. Even though this is not 4WD, it does well on loose gravel and low clearance areas. Pulls trailer with 4 wheeler extremely well.

Favorite Features

Bose sound system; sunroof.

Suggested Improvements

More comfortable front seats (more cushion and wrap around); adjustable 3rd row seat backs.

Review

This vehicle is the best, in my opinion of all vehicles in its class. With roomy interior and a very handsome exterior, Nissan went over and above in the Pathfinder design. I also own a Titan, which I normally pull my 23 foot, 4000 pound, wakeboard boat with. One day I decided to use the Pathfinder, I was impressed! It pulls with ease. Much better quality in all features than the Envoy, and Pilot, way better than Durango and Jeep. This thing is solid! It's the perfect combination of a powerful SUV, sporty handling and quickness. On the highway smooth and quiet. Fuel economy is better than I expected. I believe this is the SUV the other manufacturers try to copy.

Favorite Features

A+ power. Easy around town. Excellent Bose sound system! Third row seats flip down flush for an extra large trunk. Interior is plush and comfortable, a real trend setter.

Suggested Improvements

Improvements? I can't think of any.

We traded our 2004 Chev Trailblazer for this 06 Pathfinder. It handles much better than the Trailblazer. This Pathfinder is narrower and smaller, it has the power when needed. I would buy another Pathfinder in the future.

Favorite Features

Bose 6 changer CD system, moonroof, and how the seats fit your body so well.

Suggested Improvements

Nothing at this time.

Review

Had a 2003 Pathfinder lease and took a 2006 after 3 years. Like this one better. Roomier, smoother, more space, better ride and handling. Love the style too. Got both comfort and performance pkgs. Love it!! Gas economy is 17 back and forth to work etc., highway 21+. Only issue was backup lights didn't work at first, and dealer replaced the transmission in order to fix 'em(??). I found that odd. But it's trouble free ever since.

Favorite Features

Bose 6-CD player. Great sound throughout. Smooth quiet ride like a luxury car. Fits my 6-4, 220 frame like a glove.

Review

We own a 2006 Pathfinder LE (35,000 miles) and a 2005 Toyota 4Runner (45,000 miles). When new, I liked the Pathfinder more. Now I prefer the 4Runner. The Toyota has been trouble free, while I've been to Nissan a number of times for silly stuff: running board rubber peeled up, idler pulley noisy, driver's window slamming into track, heater control jams, door handle fell off, etc. Also, handling seems to have deteriorated to the point of being scary around turns that aren't smooth. Bad shocks? While my dealer has been superb, the car has not. Toyota does build a better vehicle. But, I love the drivetrain on the Path - very strong and smooth. Improve the suspension to the level of the drivetrain.

Favorite Features

Driveline, Nav system, leather seat material holds up very well.

Suggested Improvements

Fix whatever has made the suspension feel so squirrely. Improve quality control. Leave out the 3rd seat - this truck is too small for one - and make the second row seating more spacious and comfortable. Higher quality door panels (too much hard plastic). Improve the climate controls.
