Bought a 2005 Nissan pathfinder LE 4x4 new in 2005. 72,000 miles. It has been a fairly good vehicle until recently, 1 month ago we noticed violent vibration at 55+, violent shifting as if AT couldn't decide which gear it should be in, and Banging when shifting gears. Looked on the net and found the most likely cause, coolent leaking into AT. And vise versa. Checked it and found it to ... Read More
My mileage on Wednesday was 117,586. My extended warranty (100,000 miles) expired in January when I hit 100,000. I bought the truck brand new in August 2006. Not one person at Nissan or my dealership ever told me that the 2006 Pathfinder could have this problem. Prior to purchasing this vehicle, I had 2 Nissan Altimas--LOVED THEM. Until 2 days ago, I never had a single problem with any of my ... Read More
My 2006 Pathfinder was just diagnosed 2 days ago with the same radiator/transmission issue posted in this blog (I had it confirmed yesterday by Accurate Transmission). 2006 Nissan Pathfinder..... Looks like I am another victim of Nissan's defective radiator issue. $6,000 plus cost...yet to fix. I was asked if I have had any Nissans in the past....listed 5 VIN #s since 1982. To no avail...not loyal enough for Nissan to assist. Yes, I have contacted a lawyer...defective parts, latent defect...pick a number. Nissans biggest issue may be that I am overly persistent. Not giving up yet. My ... Read More

Very interesting you post on the Pathfinder. I'm just learning about the problems with the radiator/transmission on '05 and '06 models. Our Pathfinder had both the radiator/transmission, then the u-joint issue. The "vibrations" are different. The radiator/transmission is a shudder. The RV dealer installed both the brake controller using a Nissan specific pigtail and the 7 pin connector. This took them about 2.5 - 3 hours in labor, so it wasn't cheap at their rates.
Did the Nissan dealer install or supply the 7 pin connector and/or the brake controller or at least the pig tail for the controller? Thanks, Kip
I just purchased a 2007 Pathfinder SE and am adding the brake controller and 7-pin connector today. I was surprised to learn it already had a transmission cooler since that wasn't indicated on the edmunds site. I will be towing a 3200-lb (dry) 26-ft. Trail-Cruiser 26QBH trailer to Bristol for the NASCAR race next week. 4 big guys, lots of beer and gear - should be a good test for the ... Read More
No. If you were passing up a bargain it still wouldn't be there. I've seen 07 4runners advertised all day long for $5000 off MSRP. Should be able to work better than this with some work. Should be about the same for 07 Pathfinder. Look up your 05 LE on nada.com or kbb.com. (with 800 miles). Add a little to the wholesale price ($1500-2000) for a reasonable price for the car. ... My local Nissan dealer still has a 2005 Pathfinder LE on the lot. Sticker is $35800, and they've brought it down to $31400. It has about 800 miles on it. When I ask them why they still have a 2005, they always say it's because the LE models are harder to sell than the S or SE--that most people will go up to the Armada if they want the leather package. ... A solid rear axle, and yet better ride than most car based SUVs. The armada is not a mid size SUV, so it is not really comparable to the 4runner, so why even bring it up? However, read any reviews on the Armada and it is usually on all the worst reliability full size SUV lists. Here is one of such lists from Consumer Reports: Least reliable (Worst score first) Nissan ... Read More
Thanks for the input, I will take your advice regarding the tow equipment. Anything bad to say about the Casita? I am looking at the 17'. Also, another question. The Nissan Pathfinder brochure states that it is 6,000 lbs. rated with a 7 pin wiring harness. The Pathfinder SE has a 4 pin harness. The dealer says that all I have to do is use a 7 pin plug that plugs ... Read More
Anyone notice the sound that the Pathfinder (this case is a 2006) when the limited slip kicks in? What I'm being told is that this sound is normal but I see nothing from Nissan to assure me. Any thoughts out there? The sound is like gears meshing together and I have confirmed that it's the LSD because the "SLIP" light comes on at the time the noise occurs. Thanks for the ... Read More
Opening another window does not help, it gets louder. Nissan should be made aware of this problem. They should install wind deflectors on the rear windows and the fronts. I have a 2006 Pathfinder and this problem is a pain in the #@%&*! How can we get this Problem sent to Nissan. Anyone know?
