Hi. I see your message is from 2010. After you fixed the truck, did the problem ever happen again? Also, would you happen to know if replacing the trans is absolutely necessary or is rebuilding it enough? Thank you
My dealership is telling me that my 2005 Pathfinder needs a new timing chain -- about $2,500 because, they explain, you have to tear half the car apart to do the job. They say they can hear a telltale sound suggesting that it is going to fail. Seems like an unusual repair given that the vehicle, despite its age, only has a little over 60,000 miles on it and has received ... Read More

Jerking at 40??? If the clutches begin to rummble...kinda sounds like those cuts in the road surface they do to keep you awake if you sway off the highway lane.... that is a sign that the plates are beginning to swell...which is the 1st place the radiator fluid begins to affect. The swelling causes the rumble. The plates are high pressure pressed paper. Normally the condition occurs in the torque converter. ... Read More

If anyone owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder I strongly recommend you buy a transmission cooler. bypass the radiator and connect transmission lines directly to the cooler mounted in front of the ac condensor- behind the grill. We do this repair to prevent future intermix - transmission failure.

You aren't going to believe this.....we got a check for $5,000 from Nissan yesterday! It only took 6 months.
I had the same issue about 6 months ago shortly after i purchased the vehicle. Low rumble sound between 40-50 mph, the dealer told me they had never heard of the defect and that they couldn't replicate it. i had to drive the mechanic around town until he acknowledged there was a noise. I paid to have the trans fluid replaced and decided to follow the direction of others on line ... Read More
Here is the extended warrenty I received. It dosen't include 2003 but I would still check into it. ***** Warranty Extension Announcement ***** This announcement is to inform you that Nissan has decided, for customer satisfaction purposes, to extend the warranty for the Radiator Assembly on all 2005-10 Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. The New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage on applied vehicles for the Radiator Assembly will ... Read More
Would like to know if anyone has recently leased a 2011 Pathfinder S or 2011 Quest . I am interested in leasing for 36 months with a 15,000 annual mile allowance. What are the current residual values for the 2011 Pathfinder S and the entry level 2011 Quest? What are the current money factors for each? Also I have a 2005 Nissan Quest that I own outright. I would like to ... Read More
Same deal with the Xterra - I assume it is the same component. Nissan has sent me a note extending the warranty for that part to 7 year 70,000 miles. This after many many complaints. Possibly something will come along to Pathfinder owners
I had the same problem, Sbrooks05. 2005 Pathfinder SE, 3 months off warranty but only 52,800 miles on it. Gentle miles..I drive 3 miles roundtrip to work daily. And have never taken the vehicle outside of New England. On vacation, my reverse would not work. I drove to the nearest dealership (carefully). I was told my transmission was gone, the fluid burned. I have had no less than 15 non-regular maintenance ... Read More
I took my 2005 Pathfinder into the dealership for the problem with the radiator/transmission. I was preparing myself for a fight with Nissan over warranty coverage on the radiator (I have 58,000 mi's). Apparently in the last day or two Nissan issued a service bulletin on the problem extending the warranty to 80,000 miles on the radiator. Presumably that would include the transmission since the failure was caused by the radiator. ... Read More
So?? What was the final result?

Have your mechanic reverse the tran cooler hoses from the radiator. should hepl avoid problem if it has occurred yet.
I have a 2005 Pathfinder LE with 138,000 miles on and luckily have not experienced the tranny problem. I did have to replace a u joint on it at around 50,000 but was replaced under warranty, and am now in need of lower ball joints, but I am off road quite frequently and understand that this is rather common on trucks. HOWEVER, after reading all these posts I am freaking out ... Read More
From what Nissan told me, they will not do a recall because there were not that many vehicles. But they did tell me when my vehicle goes in that they would work with me getting it repaired and possibly covering part of the bill or all of it. My situation was different, I was already a Aamco with my warranty company (stay away from Aamco, they suck). I wish I paid ... Read More
