I have a 2005 Pathfinder LE, that I bought in November 2004, off of the showroom lot. I was made aware of this problem when my truck had about 80K miles on it. Search the internet, there is a simple swap of hoses to bypass the transmission cooler (which is redundant) inside the radiator. I now have over 165K on my truck and have not had a single problem (other than ... Read More
I have a 2009 Pathfinder and it has started to do the same thing. At first my husband insisted that I must have hit the lock on the remote from inside the house. However, if I had done that - the horn would have blown and we would have noticed the LOUD noise coming from the garage. Several times I have come out to find the doors locked. A few weeks ... yes , what happened during the years of and 2005-2006 Nissan changed Vendors for there pathfinder radiators, and they all had a flaw in them of leaking in the internal cooling line inside the bottom and thus causing the automatic transmission fluid to mix in with the antifreeze they should make good for this or seek a obama bail out if they cant financially afford to fix there problem with these ... I found a used 2004 LE PLATINUM edition with 58k for $15k. Is this a good price and a safe reliable vehichle for a woman with four kids on a budget. I know its an older model, but newer doesn't always mean better, right? Oh yeah, the vehicle has everything except navi. Any help please.
My 2004 Path, 50000 miles, well maintained. Found out it burns oil when I heard a knock and discovered I was about 2 qts low and no warning light, no leak, no smoke. Nissan says... normal. Yeah, right. Anyway, the knock went away, but about 6 months later developed again...with a full crankcase of oil and right after an oil change (10w30 Mobil1). Then that too went away after I parked ... Read More
Thanks for the quick response. I need the 19991/2-2004 XE or LE Nissan rack rail end caps. Several messages in this Forum back in 2002 or 2003 mentioned this, but I only found out about the Forum and joined last week. I would be willing to trade the entire 2003 SE rack, but not the rails, for the end caps.
I removed factory rack from my 2003 SE several years ago and replaced with Yakima. I still have the rack to possibly be reinstalled when I sell the Pathfinder since it is good looking, but not very functional. I want to buy what Yakima dealer said are the four rail end caps from 1999-2004 XE or LE. Nissan parts and junk yards I have located will only sell complete rack. Any ... Read More
Hey munny, thanks for the reply. You're right. It looks like hell so I did not bother either. But I DID flip the radiator as well as The radiator CAP, which believe it or not, can cause the problem on it's own when the rubber gasket swells slightly. So far no problems or overheats, seems to be back to "normal". Or as normal as a Pathfinder will ever be. I still have ... Read More
Munny, thanks for answering my overheating question . You mentioned the water control valve and that it was a pain to get to. I cant even see it. Looking at the scematic you gave me the link to, it looks like it's mounted between the firewall and the back of the heads, but I cant see it. Is it possible that the throttle body/intake needs to be removed to get access? ... Read More
Munny thanks for the reply. Was YOUR radiator pretty clogged? or rotted. This one seems ok and the flow looks good. no buildup as far as I can see. Also, where is the WCV located and have you ever heard of this being part ... Read More
the upper thermostat is called a water control valve. it is pain to get to and a dealer part (only about $20). I had overheating issues on my 2001. changed out radiator and lower thermostat (don't forget the gasket for the thermostat - it was not included in my NAPA kit.) has been running ok since. schematic: http://www.courtesyparts.com/betasite/pathfinder-r50-1996-2004/genuine-nissan-pa- rts/exhaust-cooling/210-water-pump-cooling-fan-thermostat/-c-4700_4701_4724_4727- .html
I have 2004 Pathfinder V6 3500. I hate this POS. Been nothing but trouble. 4 years old and has been running hot till it boiled over today. Doing the ol puke out the radiator bit. I would suspect that the door ajar might be the switch for the rear hatch. To fix the sway: I too own a 1996 Pathfinder and replaced the 8 bushings on the 4 rear control arms (2 lower, 2 upper). Thanks for the additional information, karen7338. Don't worry about leasing being confusing. You can simplify things by focusing on the two most important numbers. They are your vehicle's selling price and the money factor that is being used to calculate its monthly payment. These are the two main profit centers for dealers on leases. You were quoted a selling price of $29,470 on the Pathfinder that you're interested in. This truck ... Read More

Nothing like being 1000 miles from home and buying a new truck w/o any invoice information.
Nope. The 2001-2004 Pathfinder and QX4 might share a 3.5L VQ V-6 with the Maxima, but the similarities end there. It's pretty obvious when the Max is FWD and the Pathy is RWD or 4WD. It's only been in the last few years that Nissan consolidated most of it's platforms, with the FM (350Z, G35, FX), the FF-L (Altima, Maxima, Murano, Quest), and F-Alpha (Titan, Armada, Frontier, Pathfinder, Xterra, and QX56). ... So Nissan decided to 4Runner the Pathfinder. Take a nice looking vehicle (2004 Pathfinder, and 2002 4Runner) and make it look like the SUV that fell to earth, not to mention the extra poundage. Nissan doesn't need another Armada. One is one more than we need. Snatch up one of the the remaining 2004's while you can. They are deeply discounted and still good looking.

Hi, I'm Roy Stewart from sunny Northern California. I have owned Nissan's since 1986, and recently purchased a 2004 Pathfinder Armada LE. This is my second Pathfinder.
