I only buy Nissans I have owned 8 of them, this is my second pathfinder. I love the absolute instant power that you get by stepping on the accelerator. The interior fit and finish is great. The only downfall was that My dealer stunk...Still waiting on him to call me for my free pin stripes it has been 8 months. Stay away from Suntrup Nissan in St Louis
Favorite Features
LE interior, Bose Sound system and we got the dealer installed DVD/VCR

needs traction control

2003 Nissan Pathfinder SE 4WD 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 4A)
Review
This SUV needs traction control.Spun tires an intersections with the front half of the vehicle in the way of oncoming traffic many times. Also doesn't handle well on wet roads. Was very fast but almost too fast for what it was (a light rear wheel drive truck) Used the 4WD in the rain. Enjoyed the truck at times and thought it was fun and sporty to drive but didn't feel secure in it. Didn't hold the road well. Also not roomy enough for our small family of 3 plus dog. Gas mileage wasn't great either for such a small truck. Just got rid of it after 7 months and moved on to an '02 Explorer. Much different ride. Won't miss the Pathfinder.
Favorite Features
Bose 6 CD stereo, climate control
Suggested Improvements
Traction control, bigger backseat

2003 Nissan Pathfinder SE 4WD 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 4A)

Shoulda done more homework: We were taken by the performance, responsiveness, and sporty look of the Pathfinder, but quickly came to realize that the back seat and cargo areas are skimpy, and the ride is...well...jumpy? The V6 is fun, but combine that with some mediocre rubber and no Traction Control, and pulling out into a wet intersection during heavy traffic can get dicey...
Favorite Features
Great V6, nice Bose soundsystem.
Suggested Improvements
Traction Control (which I think is now an option?), better tires, more room...
great value

This is my first suv,and this truck is very well rounded. It has a good solid ride, and it handles well. The build quality is very good, and it has lots of comfort.the cloth is very high quality and even though the driver seat is not power,it has a lot of adjustment options.Stereo/cd sounds good ,but could use a subwoofer.Heater is a little weak on floor setting.
Favorite Features
power, ride, full size spare (under the truck)nice roof rack, radio controls on the steering wheel, looks.
Suggested Improvements
Gas mileage, regular grade fuel, driver seat needs to move back one more notch, stronger heater.

This is my third Pathfinder in a row. I have taken it to the dealership 8 times and they can not fix a creaking noise that I hear above my head. Did not have this problem before.
Favorite Features
Performace, it drives like a dream. Very powerful.
Suggested Improvements
Gas mileage and more room in back seat area.

Major problem right from factory!

The day I picked up the Pathfinder I experienced a stalling/idling problem. The problem continued to get worse and the first time I used it on the highway, the vehicle would not upshift forcing the engine to redline at 65 mph. The dealer made $1500 worth of torque converter warranty repairs. The parts took a month to come in and the vehicle was completely unreliable to drive. This appears to be fixed now but the windshield stress cracked at 6 mos due to improper installation. I enjoy driving this Pathfinder I am very concerned about its long term reliability. I have another 30 months on my lease and that scares me.
Favorite Features
Comfort - Heated seats - Quiet interior
Suggested Improvements
Reliability issues. Gas mileage is terrible (17-18mpg) for a vehicle that is not very powerful.

My first SUV.Had Legends b4 this, but I need the space since I tow offroad. It was Pathy OR 4runner, Toyota didn't move on price SO got Pathy for $7000 off MSRP. Overall a good SUV, SUV body roll what you would expect. 240HP engine is powerful, it's geared and tuned low for towing..fine with me. 3500mi so far..Major reason I was looking at Pathy/4runner: they are still manufactured IN JAPAN. So no problems...like my Legends! The Bridgestone Duellers are Terrible! These are the worst tires I have EVER ridden...Marginally good in the dry and bald-like in rain and snow. Get the tires traded in b4 you leave dealer so you don't slide out of the showroom.
Favorite Features
steering controls stereo and C/C functionality are well thought out. other controls are well placed. seating arrangements are comfortable for 4. More than enough room once the rear seats are dropped to haul things like snowboards and bodies.
Suggested Improvements
1)Gas Mileage:EPA posting is far from accurate...getting about 13 city and 15 average. 2)Heated seats never seem to get hot enough 3)rear seatbelts are a pain to return after you drop the rear. 4) TIRES...Bridgestone Dueller's.THEY SUCK. You might as well be ice racing.

Reliable, fast, and clean SUV
Vehicle
2003 Nissan Pathfinder SE 4WD 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 4A)
Review
Overall the Pathfinder was a good buy. Its strong, fast, and feels good to drive. The styling is a bit understated, and the extra exterior options (grillguard $399, skirack $100, rear wind buffer $78, taillight guards $168) can add up quick. Of these, the grillguard and the rear wind buffer add the most to the appearence of the vehicle. The main reasons I chose this vehicle over the other competitors (I had owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee) was the excellent reliability, and the lower price.
Favorite Features
Light on its feet, the Pathfinder SE V6 4X4 is strong and the ride feels great for an SUV. Excellent reliability record is a sure win. Cloth seats have a pleasant waffled pattern to them. Radio and climate controls are all digital, and easy to operate. Handles good on snow.
Suggested Improvements
Bose stereo system missing bass, skips a LOT in low temperatures (35 and lower). No storage area for the headrests of rear seats when folding forward. Roofrack on the SE is a concern, you can only mount the Nissan 'yakima' ski/ snowboard attachment to it. Fuel economy is negligible
