I have a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder Automatic. Would lose about half a quart + between oil changes (3K) no smoke, no drips. Upon careful inspection saw that there was a lot of oil caked on right cv boot and the surrounding area. Turns out the oil cooler had a very slight leak from the o ring. Not enough to drip but it just kind slowly covered the surrounding areas. Found that ... Read More
Hi everyone. I have a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder with 140k miles that has slightly elevated oil consumption - about one quart every 2000 miles. I wanted to make the suggestion to use Blackstone Labs for oil analysis to determine whether your oil consumption is being caused by excessively worn rings, which would cause excess fuel to show up in your oil. They can detect the content of several wear metals and ... Read More

I live in Jersey so I have no recommendations in your area, but don't ask for a general 60k mile maintenance. Many dealers and others garages will add on needless, high profit work. Look at your owners manual and don't let anyone tell you your truck needs more than what your manual says. Two exceptions to that would be having your cooling system power flushed (not just drained) and having your ... Read More

I have a 2003 Nissan pathfinder with one key, I called ace hardware and they said they can clone a key with there computer by getting the code then copy the code into a new transponder key. ,I also asked if they could possibly by mistake erase my one good key ,they claim they have done this for many chip type keys without any problems,is this true?
Thanks for the quick response. I need the 19991/2-2004 XE or LE Nissan rack rail end caps. Several messages in this Forum back in 2002 or 2003 mentioned this, but I only found out about the Forum and joined last week. I would be willing to trade the entire 2003 SE rack, but not the rails, for the end caps.
I removed factory rack from my 2003 SE several years ago and replaced with Yakima. I still have the rack to possibly be reinstalled when I sell the Pathfinder since it is good looking, but not very functional. Hello I live in Queens NY and my Pathfinder is at about 55K. I will be bringing it in for the 60K overhaul. Any recomendations on a shop aside from the local Nissan dealer who specializes in Pathfinders.
My 06 Pathfinder is at 66k. My check engine light was on a few months back , for 30 days. It went off ON MY WAY to the appt! so didn't think more about it. Came on again on Dec 25 so after 6 weeks I decided to go back to Nissan. Good thing I did! They ended up replacing the CATALYTIC CONVERTER... under warranty.

Hello, my wife and I have just gotten serious about a 2007 Pathfinder LE 4WD lease. On the initial visit to the local Nissan dealership yesterday, they quoted me $469/mo. for a 39-month lease, including a trade-in of a 2003 Ford Explorer worth around $6300 ($12235 Edmund's trade-in minus around $5900 loan payoff). They didn't want to provide any details as to trade-in value, residual value, etc., so here I am ... Read More
Just a tip about your wife's daily commute- A 1/2-mile trip doesn't give the engine enough time to come up to operating temperature. There are very good chances that this type of use will lead to shorter engine life. Cold starts ("cold" = less than 150°F coolant temp) are actually when the most engine wear occurs. At the very least, try to drive the vehicle at least for 1/2-hour continuously, on ... Read More
I have filed lemon law on my 03 pathfinder. The most recent repair was the new engine, and the timing control valves (3rd time). I love the car, has a very nice ride, but way too many problems. Talk to a few more people before the purchase. Good Luck!
I just sold my 2001 PF LE in June of 2006. Although, I miss the Pathfinder and really liked it alot, I don't miss the poor gas mileage it received. I have a 2001 - basically the same as the 2003. Have had no problems with the vehicle, other than O2 sensors early on. It's a large heavy SUV, but considering that, it gets pretty good mileage. Getting ready to purchase a 2003 Pathfinder with 37,000 miles. Having looked through some of the posts here, I have to admit I am having second thoughts. www.irontoad.com. It's under the Nissan/Pathfinder/2003 link, but there is no difference between the model years after 1999.5. Cost is ~$62 plus shipping. It's an easy do it yourself. Gently pry off the interior trim piece with a flat blade screwdriver to expose the screws. Replace one side at a time! Takes all of 15 minutes. And it does do an amazing job at keeping the rear window clear.
