AMEN!! HERE'S A LETTER I'M SENDIN TO NISSAN AND ALL NETWORKS ETC. DEAR NISSAN EXECS: IíM WRITING THIS LETER TO YOU AS A CATHARSIS FOR ME. MY FAMILY HAS OWNED FOUR VARIOUS NISSAN MODELS OVER THE PAST 15 YEARS. MY LAST TWO WERE 1998 AND 2005 PATHFINDERS. BOTH VEHICLES HAD EXTREME PROBLEMS. THE 1998 REQUIRED TWO AND ONE/HALF TRANSMISSIONS BEFORE I HIT 5500 MILES. I WAS THE ONE WHO SPEARHEADED THE ... Read More
The fuel consumption is outrageous. the mileage is as low as 1 gallon to 6.2miles only. The service engine and air bad lights shows yellow on the dashboard. Please what do I do? can somebody help, mechanics have eaten my money so much.
While testing fuses of my Nissan Pathfinder 1998, because mirror compass and lighter didn't work, suddenly inside lights, radio and hazard lights stop working as well. I check every fuse and I found power in every one but now they don't work anymore. Please, I will thank any help about.
I have 1998 Pathfinder SE with 100K. It is a very reliable car except for the gas milage. It gives about 14 in city and 18 Hwy MPG. With the incresing gas prices, I am in a dilema whether to keep it or replace with a smaller more fuel efficient car. The problem is that it will be difficult to get any money for this old car. Is there a way ... Read More
No to the first part of the question. There is a red flashing bulb on the bottom left side of the dashboard, next to the steering wheel. Underneeth the bulb it it says "security". I know that if I remote start the vehicle and then try to drive without the key in the keyhole/not turned the key, the car will shut down.
Does the key have a little rectangular plug on the handle and replacement keys cost $100 or so and must be programmed into the car? Does it have the flashing red LED on the dash? If so on both questions, it's probably the immobilizer system. As for the insurance, I suppose it depends on the company, but I haven't seen any that give discounts for this. They have already factored that ... Read More
Hi I just bought a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder Chilkoot. I was wondering if the Anti-theft security system that comes with the car has an immobilizer? If so,what kind? Does anyone know if this immobilizer (if it exists) is enough to convince my auto insurance company (in Alberta Canada) to reduce my auto insurance cost? Thanks
hi i have the same problem with my pathfinder if you have found out how to fix the problem pleas let me know what to do and how much it cost. Thanks alot ER
I have the check engine light on in my 1998 Nissan Pathfinder. OBDII diagnostic gave a code P0161 (Oxygen sensor 2 bank 2). Does any body have info about this sensor? Is it rear right or left and how much does it cost to repair? RK
1998 Nissan Pathfinder. Drives like charm, no problems until now. Basically, drove in morning, stopped in afternoon, 2 hours later, started car, put in reverse, drove 3 feet, engine sputtered as I pressed gas pedal, engined died. Went to restart, unable to do. Full tank of gas, one hundred tries 3 hours later, finally starts and let it run for a good long while (to recharge battery from all those start ... Read More
Xplorx, I may be starting to experience the same "waddling" problem on my '01 PF. It has 103K miles. I heard on the Car Doctor radio show this morning that Nissan issued a TSB on this in 1998. Is it likely I have the same problem, or was the rear suspension design changed after the '99 model year? Thanks.
My boyfriend said when he drives specially on the highway, it feels like his 1998 Nissan Pathfinder SE is not accelerating properly. The speedometer says he's going 65 mph but it feels like he's car is much slower than that. Does anyone know what's wrong with his vehicle?
I just replaced the exhaust on my 1998 Pathfinder. I live on Long Island (New York) so we have moisture problems and rust from corrosion caused by using salt on the roads during the winter. I went with a Walker exhaust from Rockauto.com and it cost about $250.00 after using a 5% off discount coupon. You can find the coupon code by doing a Google search (make sure it is not ... Read More
Hi. Does anyone know of a hood mask that fits a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder? Its hard enough to find these things but it seems to be harder to find a good one that would be compatible. This is what I am talking about - http://www.global-accessories.com/products/cartlink_html/autozone- /hoodmask.phtml - I wanted the same style as this. Thanks!!
All the talk about "don't exceed 60mph in auto-mode" sounds like hogwash. The auto-mode system has been used in Infiniti QX4's since 1998!! Nissan just took the exact same system and put it in the Pathfinder, and I've never heard of anyone complaining about the problems that have been discussed about using Auto-mode above 60mph until now. Don't let Nissan feed you any BS. Go check a local Infiniti dealer and ... Read More
Well, I talked to Nissan Canada, and they will not stand behind their product. They wouldn't give me the time of day. The tranny experts are telling me they've rebuilt quite a few Pathfinder tranny's lately even on the 1999 models due to radiator cooler failure, which in turn blows out the tranny over time..go figure. The cooler is made with plastic fins for God's sake, which melts over time!!!! I'm ... Read More
BigOrange, you need to compare fairly here. You picked the 2001 Nissan (with a much lower amount of TSBs than 2000), yet compared it to the 2000 GC. And no, the 2000 GC is NOT "the latest model available" - there are indeed listings for 2001 and 2002. You need to go back and select the 2000 Nissan and break out the 85 TSB's listed, instead of the 36 listed for ... Read More
A friend of mine leased a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder SE about 3 years ago. His 39 month lease will be up in Aug., 2001. He recently received a call from the bank BANK ONE holding the lease an offer to buyout for around $400/month (they will be financing about $17K). The SUV has less than $30K miles. But my friend has no interest in the lease buyout, he simply want to ... Read More
My 1998 Pathfinder LE has the dreaded Nissan Window Disease! My driver's side window goes up slowly, and even slower if it is real cold outside. I've taken it into the dealer before (under warranty) and I believe they lubricated the channels - which solved the problem for a couple years. Now that its out of warranty and needs help again, does anyone know if this is somethiing that is easily ... Read More
I own a 97 SE it has 56k on it A while back, over a year by now I got a service campaign bulletin from Nissan regarding " a miner noise involving the exhaust manifold, and/or corrosion/rattles involving the main muffler and post muffler assembly" The bulletin goes on to say the the warranty on the exhaust manifold is extended to 100 months /100k and main muffler and post muffleer assembly ...
