I have a 2010 Nissan Murano with 40'000 miles. The CVT just went out on it. Nissan is replacing it with a new one. It seems like everything I've read seems to indicate that once you replace the transmission, you will have problems from there on out. Has anyone had theirs replaced and had no more problems?
mikesmurano claims: "Be warry! These cars are very problematic." Not true. Folks, mikesmurano has been spamming this forum for many months now with false claims about the Murano because of his rare bad experience. HIS car may have been problematic, and a very few other folks may have, but both Consumer Reports and JD Powers say otherwise, giving the Murano high marks for reliability and quality. For example, you can see ... Read More
Be careful. There are a lot of exclusions in the Murano CVT warranties. The statistics seem to be climbing now in the 2009 & 2010 Muranos. The CVT's continue to display the same problem as in earlier models. Be warry! These cars are very problematic.

I too have a 2010 Murano. I had the leak and smell of oil from the day I drove it off the lot. I kept complaining and they told me it was an axel seal. Did not help. Can somebody please confirm what looks like an odd residual spread between Murano S and LE in march? According to north-east lease special ad on nissanusa website, as seen 03/15: " 2010 Murano S AWD w/ Splash Guards & Mats model 23210 subject to availability to well qualified lessees through Nissan-Infiniti LT. $30,760 MSRP incl. destination charge. Net capitalized cost of $25,483 . Dealer contribution may affect actual price set by ... Read More
I found this quite interesting, today I purchase my yearly CR Mag for new car ratings and reviews for each vehicle by an automaker and came away scratching my head on the Murano! Between the 2009 and now the 2010 issue, the Murano was reduced from better than average reliability to just average reliability despite the fact that except for one category, the Murano got all perfect much better than average ... Hey jaxbuyer. you know, I posted that link from jdpower on the CVT forum too!! good information man!! I know people who are having transmission, engine, or other troubles might disagree with me when I say what I am about to say, and that is completely understandable, but you, at least I saw this coming, the 1st Gen Murano and the 6th Gen Maxima were guinea pigs for Nissan's first attempt at introducing ... New discussion to help those that may have struggled with Nissan dealers and or Nissan corporate specifically related to the problem riddled Murano. Also, this would be a good place for potential Nissan buyers to gather some real world information on what to anticipate. For starters, check this out: http://www.autoblog.com/gallery/2010-jd-power-csi-study/#2 Then read my threads on the issues I have had. I am still in a battle with Nissan corporate and don't ... Thanks for your words "jayrider". The first sensible ones I've heard. I will not comment more in this thread unless someone asks for my input. Just an FYI, I live in the metro Atlanta area which is one of the largest Nissan, Honda and Toyota markets in the U.S. In our 145 resident neighborhood there were six Murano owners; now five. Two of those owners purchased 2009 models; the rest were ... Read More
mike -- your remarks don't bother me at all. I doubt that they bother nissan as well. Had you had the problems with a new 07 or 09 your warnings would be taken more seriously. If I'm correct you bought the first model year used with 39k miles on it. You paid top dollar because they were hot back then and you got burned. My condolences. I would concur with your ... Denny, thanks for your comments. However, respectfully, my buying experience is no less valid than yours or anyone else being a former Nissan Murano owner. Also, folks looking to buy are not only looking for "new" Muranos. Many are shopping for used cars and Consumer Reports publications are generally inaccurate and non-technical. I have had replies that were positive wanting to know what went wrong and others, like "loach" and "flightnurse", ... Read More
You are not correct about the current design of Nissan's CVT's. A little research confirms this by looking at the dates of the models that continue to have problems. Even newer models. Correcting you further, I am not holding on but warning people so that they may avoid costly unplanned repairs. Correcting you still further, I have moved on by purchasing an Acura to replace the Murano. Best car purchase I ... Read More
Like someone posted before, what happened to you have NOTHING to do with todays Murano's. Nissan has issues with the CVT in the early years but have corrected the problems. But of course that doesn't matter to you, since it seems like you like to hold on the issue not move forward. So you got a bad deal, sorry, but sell the Murano and never buy another one (nissan). Its called ... Read More
My Murano was originally purchased at the Nissan dealer in Conyers, GA. I found them to be rather dishonest regarding their "Certified Cars". I subsequently shopped at the "Mall of Georgia Nissan". Found them to be very pricey and non-negotiable. I later conducted my business at Carriage Nissan in Gainesville, GA. I found them to be the most reasonable to deal with. They were negotiable and came across as honest. But, ... Read More
Today, I bought Murano from Nissan Buena Park. I paid $32K for SL 2WD that included the premium and Technology packages. The price I paid was after getting $1250 cashback from Nissan. Other options that were included in the deal are: duel moonroof , roofrack cross bars, mats and rear cargo cover. I had to pay extra for tax and license which is more than $3K. My deal included trade in ... Read More
