    ..of course I agree if the Murano is leased....but if you own it a fluid change on the tranny should nopt that expensive,just my opinion,and by having it no one dealer or Nissan cab even begin to suggest negligense on the part of the owner..besides if a lawsuit follows always more is better than less..it will show your willingness to "really" maintain your vehicles..

Also a dealer has recommended replacing the CVT transmission fluid because of the hot weather in Phoenix but Nissan service schedule doesn't have the recommendation to replace it at 60,000 miles.     In Aug I had to replace the transmission in my 2005 Murano. Of course at that time by CVT trans was an out of pocket expense. I did send Nissan all the paperwork they required. The repairs were done at an independent licensed repair shop and not at the Nissan dealer. Do you think that makes a difference for the refund?

    Jayrider, I am not sure if you have been doing your research, like many upset 2003 Murano Owners, but most of these transmissions are failing well before the 100k line. Some have report failures at 25,000 miles, but they were still covered under warrenty. Furthermore, Nissan has indeed changed the transmission in the Murano. the newer models do not have the same CVT that was in the 2003-2005 Muranos.

    Yep - it's the 2005's too. I had to replace my tranny at 68k miles. It was a $6k bid, but after complaining and mentioning this blog, the dealership said they/Nissan would cover half but I was still out $3k. Just make sure you buy the extended warantee!!

    like others on this site, a 2005 Nissan Murano and the support linkage for the power seat has broke . It lists to the left. As far as I can tell, it is a break in the connection of the back support. Power features work fine. Sounds like Nissan has a design problem. ;) ;)

    Hi mohammadgiahi re no shield on 'o7 MOs: Ilooked under an '07 last week and saw a black fabric like soft plastic mounted along the front edge of the gas tank. It could deflect road objects away fron the tank, and if the tank wall is thicker?? mabey the plastic or metal protector is not need.

    Had a recall on my 2005 murano for position of gas tank. The dealer installed a protective shield.I recently hit something on the highway under normal driving conditions and punctured my gas tank. The objest went right thur the projective shield that was made of plastic and puntured my gas tank.Dealer will not cover repair under warranty.     I HAD ANOISE LIKE THE SPIN CYCLE OF A WASHING MACHINE AT 30-40 MPH. NISSAN tech support said this was normal for a 2005 murano. Went to another nissan dealer and it was the tires. They put the car on a lift and reved the motor to 30-40mph---no noise proving it was the tires. Got new tires and no more noise. GOOD LUCK

    Going to NHTSA complaints filed do a search on 2003 Murano and do a search on 2003 Highlander (better comparison than a lexus- Murano is not meant to compete with the RX).     Your comparison on the Murano's history vs. that of the RX330 may be inaccurate: Lexus owners typically nit pick about their vehicles- feeling that the company advertises the relentless pursuit of perfection- and anything but perfect is not acceptable to some Lexus owners.     I was at the dealer yesterday (13 March) getting some information about my xenon headlight (read post #1168). I was also on the phone with Nissan USA. The service technician informed me of the fuel tank recall. When I asked a maintainer at the dealer, he shuffled some papers, looked in his computer, and said he didn't find anything. I guess he should have checked Edmunds.com! :-)

    Actually recalls aren't necessarily a good way to judge a car's reliability. There are many vehicles that should be recalled but the manufacturers are holding back because they don't want the bad publicity.
