Thank you for your response. I meant to shut this article down as the car caught on fire about two months ago. My housemate was heartbroken. However, all is not lost. she got a very attractive offer from the insurance company because the car was certified and not a mark on it.. we got her another Nissan Maxima but it was a used 2008 with 3000 miles. I posted earlier about the sunroof problem which I corrected thanks to the post by disohl. I also noticed that when I hit the auto up on my driver's side window it would close, then come down about a 1/4 of the way. I don't know if that's because about a half hour before that, I held the unlock button to open the windows because the inside of my car was hot. I don't remember ... Read More...

I have a 2008 Nissan Maxima. I just got some work done to it and the sunroof didn't slide open and close, but it would go up and down. I opened it, then closed it, then held the close button down for about 5 seconds and I'll be damned if it started sliding open and close. It worked!!! Thanks for the post. Read More...

I find it interesting that you would prefer a "real" automatic transmission to the Maxima's CVT. I thought the most favorable impressions of the CVT came from those that view it as better/smoother than a slushbox automatic. Here here to that, U.S. built Maximas (2004-2008) are terrible in materials, craftsmanship, fit and finish, and overall reliability. If anyone has one or sees one, look at the panel gaps around the trunk, the left front fender gap with the front left door is large enough to see the bolts holding the door in place and in addition the top of the left fender sticks out ... And, according to my Nissan service manager, was the best Maxima ever in terms of solid reliability and durability.
