Since the new transmission was installed all 100% of the issues disappeared! It's been absolutely perfect. I think Nissan is aware that they have bad batches of transmissions and tell the dealerships to go through all the hoops before reaching the "Lemon Law" phase, which is a royal pain the *ss. It really messes with the trust of your purchase. Maybe they figure the little "fixes" will resolve the issue. The ... Read More

I have a 2007 Maxima with a timing chain problem, only 68K on car and Nissan won't back it up, only response from them is engine parts do fail. A timing chain should last pretty much for the life of a car. I guess Maxima's life span is about 70K. I'll never buy another Nissan.
I've owned my 2007 Nissan Maxima for almost 2 years and only recently have experienced problems with the DTE indicator. I don't believe it is reading right and it is fluctuating up and down when I am driving on flat interstate roadways. I'm looking at buying a Nissan soon. I'm caught between looking at a 2007 Certified Used Maxima SL with 30k miles (appx $22k) vs a new 2010 Altima 2.5s (appx $24k). Any opinions on which direction you would go is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I didn't realize my comparison between the 2009 maxima and 2009 TL exterior appearance would generate such discussion. I simply was just comparing the exterior appearance and changes. The TL was change so drastically for 2009 that I feel the exterior has become ugly looking. That is my opinion but I have read many professional opinions who agree with me. I can make this statement because I currently drive a 2008 ... Read More

Does anyone know what might be the problem?
I just got a 2007 Maxima SL this weekend. I observed the same thing with my first two fill-ups; when the gauge shows nearly empty, the DTE shows 60+ miles and 14 to 15 gallons will fill up the tank. I suspect it's just Nissan being overly conservative to cut us drivers some slack.
No, the transmission fluid wad not changed. I guess I better get it changed. The owners manual was not too clear about this subject. Thanks.
Its not required to change, but if i were you I would change coolant and find out from previous owner if they changes @ 30k/60 k their transmission OIL
I just bought a used 2007 Maxima SL with 76,500 miles. The oil has been changed every 7500 miles per manual. Tires were just changed at 71K. The owner tells me the brakes were done at 50K. The air filter was changed per factory specs. My question is does the CVT fluid and radiator coolant need to be changed anytime soon. Also, does any other maintenance need to be done. Thanks ... Here here to that, U.S. built Maximas (2004-2008) are terrible in materials, craftsmanship, fit and finish, and overall reliability. Hello, I also have a 2007 Maxima. I found the fuel problem the first time I filled the tank. I took it back to the dealer and they said that was normal. I plan to complain to Nissan. I'm glad you've had good luck with your new Nissans. I still think it's risky though (for any brand.) Not like the engine's gonna fall out or anything, but still, that's me, play it very safe. Regarding the Versa, that's actually a "world" car that had already ... Read More
Hopefully they won't jack the price too bad. One thing about the Maxima that has been true for the last few years is that even though it is priced much higher than the Altima, you can actually get one for less since they are discounted pretty heavily at the dealers. I have to totally disagree with you, Warrior. My 2002 Maxima, up until it was wrecked Monday evening, has been an outstanding car for four years and 60,000 miles. And like the Nissan logo says, the car has been "driven". It has been an exhilarating four years to have driven this car. I loved the power, I loved the "growl" of the V6. To me the car was pretty special; roomy, ... Read More
My 2006 Maxima has been in the shop for 30 days waiting for a backordered fuel pump. They have no idea when it will arrive. It is being used in manufactured 2007 vehicles and I am not a priotity. I have run out of Insurance rental and Nissan will not pay and were very rude. HAs anyone else had this problem? I contacted the ABC and NBC local news affiliates, the ... Read More

Help is on the way, rwalkeredmund. Nissan's lease program for this car varies depending upon how long one leases for. Right now, the 36 month term is the most attractive for this model. If you were to lease any 2007 Nissan Maxima through Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp. right now for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year, its buy rate lease money factor and residual value should be .00238 and 52%, ... Hi Tim. If you were to lease a 2006 Nissan Maxima SE through Nissan Motor acceptance Corp. right now for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year, its buy rate lease money factor and residual value should be .00004 and 52%, respectively. This car's 39 month, 15k numbers should be .00147 and 51%. The numbers for a 36 month, 15k lease of a 2007 Maxima SE should be .00238 and 52%. ... Read More
Hey lm_cincy. If you were to lease a 2007 Nissan Maxima SL through Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp. right now for 36 months with 12,000 miles per year, its buy rate lease money factor and residual value should be .00238 and 53%, respectively. As you can see, Nissan has already had to introduce a little lease support on this car. It is difficult to say when it will increase its level of ... Read More
I am trying to decide between the 2006-07 Nissan Maxima or the 2007 Toyota Camry XLE. The car I choose will be equiped with all the bells and whistles. What are your recommendations, should I go for the Camry or the Maxima?
I wanted to know how much can the life expectancy of a Nissan Maxima 3.0L V6 engine be? I have been offered a 1999 maxima which has run 132k miles for $6k. Just wanted to take a moment to boast on my fiance's 1995 Nissan Maxima SE. I just changed her oil on Sunday,(extremely easy oil and filter change) and she had over 372,000 miles. No engine or transmission problems just ... Read More
By the way, I was wondering what are everyone's thoughts about the 2007 Maxima? I've read that it's getting a drop in hp to 255 (Same hp as my 2002 Max) with a CVT tranny. I was liking the new changes until I heard about the drop in hp. This is bugging me. The Maxima has been compared to the Avalon extensively. So how is it supposed to compete with 255 ... Read More
Recently I was reading that Nissan will put CVT (Continuous variable transmission) in 2007 Maxima. Finally abrupt transmissions shifts are going to be past news. That is my mayor and continuously complains in my 2005 SL Maxima. The second one is the road noise.... too loud...... I believe they think I will try new luck with the 2007 ones. NO WAY .... Nissan doesn't care about customers. No solution for current ... Read More
I want to buy a new car in march but i am very undecided on what to buy because there are about 4 or 5 brands that i seem to like. I cant seem to narrow it down maybe its because im thinking too much. Maybe someone here can help me out to narrow it down. These are the cars that i like not in order. The Acura TL, BMW 325XI, ... If I were to get a new Maxima, I would get an SL for the more luxurious interior and quieter ride. However, I don't know why Nissan gave an all-new design a 4-speed automatic in this day and age. 5-speed automatic is the norm for new design now. Is Nissan really saving very much when they have to manufacture 2 different automatic transmissions for the Maxima? I hope they update the ... Read More
ludacris... Thanks and interesting. One person's opinion. But he does conceed my most basic point. The beam axle is inherently less stable on bumpy or uneven surfaces. A good beam axle, even the best beam axle, still suffers from its inherent non-independent limitation. And that is why the press pointed it out when Nissan cut corners with the re-design and why Nissan is now going fully independent rear suspensions with new ... Read More
