2003 Nissan Maxima SE 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 4A)

Review

It's powerful, stylish, has a lot of
nice features, and is reliable. Best
car for the money. The mistake people
make is when they try to compare the
Maxima with the Camary, Accord, Or
Mitsubishi. It is in a higher class, a
head above the previous mentioned. The
only things I would change are: It
needs a telescoping steering wheel,I'm
6'5" and my seat is pushed all the way
back. The steering wheel is to far
away. Also, the exterior paint seems to
chip easily.

Best Features

The styling. 255HP Engine. Bose 6- Disc 7 speaker sound system. I sounds better than the 2004 8 speaker Bose.

Worst Features

Telescopic steering wheel.

2003 Nissan Maxima SE 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 6M)

Review

Hated '04 styling. Picked up used
(13K) '03. All options incl. Nav.

Potenzas hydroplane.
Suspension and low profile tires are
great for smooth roads. Potholes knock
you silly. Squeaks and rattles down the
road?

Also disappointed with the BOSE stereo.
Cranked up full volume, still not
enought when windows and sunroof are
open. My '92 SE had a better BOSE
system.

I'm still debating whether the nav
system is useful or a toy. It seems
shoehorned in and having to do A/C
controls on the screen seems an
afterthought when they took the dash
real estate away from the standard
controls. I think the dash looks better
without the nav system.

Best Features

Great engine. All this performace plus 27-28 mpg.

Worst Features

BOSE "premium" sound system is a joke. Potenza's scary in the rain. Love the auto down windows from remote key fob but why do they go down only 3" after an hour parked. Overpriced navigation CDs. $120 each!!!? (need 9 total for US)

2003 Nissan Maxima GLE 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Flawless in interior design, engine
performance and braking. Very
comfortable on long trips.
Ergonomics are well thought out.
Pleasure to drive on those looong
highway stretches. Adaquate stereo,
storage space. Xenon bulbs are a
dream. Incredible value for money.
Selected this product after testing
Acura CL, Toyota Avalon, Lexus ES
300, BMW 3 Series, and Volvo S60.

Best Features

Engine Performance, Interior design, Seat comfort, History of reliability, heated steering wheel, Traction control (came in handy at 150+ inches of snow) and seat comfort. Build quality is fantastic, and value for money.

Worst Features

Torque steer at high acceleration, large turning radius, and paint quality. Chips and nicks at only 6k miles.

2003 Nissan Maxima SE 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Just finished putting 1100 miles on my
new Max. I traded in a 1998 Audi A4.
Though not as nimble due to the lack
of independent rear suspension, the
Maxima is a fun car to drive with
plenty of power and decent handling.
How can you go wrong with a 255 hp car
that can smoke most other vehicles on
the road, yet carry a family of four
comfortably? Plus you'll get a great
deal on a 03 model now that they are
trying to push the 04's.

Best Features

Xenon headlamps, auto-dimming mirror, 6 disc in-dash changer, sunroof controls, acceleration, rear passenger room

Worst Features

INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION!!! Hood "flutters" at high speeds. There is a TSB from Nissan for this so make sure you get it fixed within a year or Nissan will charge you for it.

2003 Nissan Maxima SE 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 6M)

Review

The Maxima is not for everyone but for
drivers who want performance and comfort
at a reasonable price, it is a great
choice. With 255 horsepower, 17 inch
wheels, xenon headlights and an
extremely comforable interior, it
compares better with BMW and Acura than
Toyota and Honda. I will not argue that
a BMW 330 handles better and that an
Acura 3.2 TL offers more luxury but both
will cost at least $6,000 more than the
Maxima. The Maxima is also faster than
either of them. If you don't want
another boring family sedan (Accord or
Camry) and you don't want to spend the
money for a BMW, you need to test drive
a Maxima.

Best Features

255 horsepower engine, xenon headlights, 6 speed manual transmission.

Worst Features

Better limited slip differential to control torque steer, lighted controls on steering wheel, more space between brake and gas pedal (my big feet won't fit).
