Best car I've owned
Vehicle
1995 Nissan Maxima 4 Dr SE Sedan
Review
I've owned this car 8 years, bought it with 55k. It's now at 226k and still running strong. The car has been driven for years in Maine to Indiana, Oregon and now in Florida. Routine maintenance is always done myself, including replacing the starter once, brake pads of course and battery a few times. Never stranded once even when the started did go out it's a manual and so easy to push start. Lots of long drives and I'm 6'5" and never any back or leg problems. Only shop work done was new shocks and struts at 160k and a new clutch at about 120k, the old was still original. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well the new clutch has maintained because I don't drive the car easy.
Favorite Features
Reliability! Good gas mileage for the power, easy to overtake slower cars on the interstates without downshifting.
Suggested Improvements
Fold down rear seat, better corrosion resistance on rear spoiler and front of hood.

My 95 Maxima!
Vehicle
1995 Nissan Maxima 4 Dr SE Sedan
Review
I bought this car about 1 1/2 yrs ago and have had a few issues. I had to replace the alternator a little after buying it which was sort of expected. I replaced some "knock sensor" which was about $450.00 and I now need to replace an EGR solenoid. I know that will be costly as well. I bought the car for $6500.00 and have put much money into it. It is all paid off and now I am having these knock sensor, EGR issues. Also, I need struts. They say the suspension is bad on the car (probably front and back) I would not trade this car for anything else though. I love it. I will need to replace the speakers and the stereo as the Bose CD player died and the speakers are beginning to crack.
Favorite Features
Bose sound system before they started cracking. (I know it's my fault for listening too loud.) Look of the front end of car (it looks like a beast).
Suggested Improvements
Better sensors which last longer and harder material for body. Someone hit me going 25 miles an hour and knocked out my headlight, foglight and smashed in the drivers side fender.
1995 SE 5-speed
Vehicle
1995 Nissan Maxima 4 Dr SE Sedan
Review
When I originally purchased the Maxima, I wanted to get maximum fuel economy and reliability while maintaining a semi-luxury design and sporty feel; enter the Maxima five speed, fuel efficent, reliable, and filled with creature comforts (Bose stereo, digital climate control, heated leather, etc.). The vehicle is responsive and comfortable, handling is about average for its size and build quality is relatively good. You really do get quite a lot for not much money, but be warned: Nissan charges premium prices for its components, well over the prices you'd expect from a Japanese automobile. All in all I would still recommend the vehicle despite its faults as a great daily driver.
Favorite Features
Reliability (the vehicle has been worked on so little the bolts in the belly pan rusted off due to their rare removal!). Interior comfort package (radio, climate control, etc.). Engine performance, especially with the manual transmission is superb. Fuel economy is top notch.
Suggested Improvements
Transmission design is "notchy" and you really have to "row" between gears. Also with age first gear and reverse require double clutching. Leather quality leaves much to be desired. Pricing on parts is almost at luxury car level, well above Toyota and Honda part costs.

182,000 still runs good as new. I installed a k&n filter on it which improved horsepower and fuel economy.
Favorite Features
Still stylish for 95, rides like a sports car plenty of hp, great bose system
Suggested Improvements
The dash is all black with gray and black cloth seats. Today you find cars with silver or aluminum trim on the dash to make the interior even more stylish. I installed a after market dash kit and it looks great. So there, that would be my suggested improvement

357,000 Strong
Vehicle
1995 Nissan Maxima 4 Dr GXE Sedan
Review
This is the best car I have ever owned. Well this one has lasted me almost 10 years. My dad owned it before me. We have changed the oil every 3000 miles. The only problem I have ever had was the starter went out. It has 357,000 miles on it and still runs like the day I bought it from my father.
Favorite Features
The engine is the best part about this car.
Suggested Improvements
It doesn't wash the dishes.

Review
I worked at a dealership for awhile. I used this car to get places i needed to go so i didn't have to put wear on my car. The car had 185,000 miles on it and it ran as good as my 2000 se with 80k. It handled awesomely and still had the performance i expected. I love my 00 and i loved this 95. I highly recommend a maxima to anyone. In my opinion of owning 2 a 90 and a 00 and having friends own them and working on there cars. I HIGHLY recommend the maxima. Just look up VQ30DE on Google and see all the awesome reviews you get for the motor!!!!

Got this '95 maxima with 150k miles on it for $2500!! What a steal! Mechanic says that it has strong engine and tranny. Needed brakes but that's to be expected. I love the design and how the car looks. it's my first car and it is perfect and at a good price range. no problems only routine maintenance and tlc to keep it looking sharp. This car can take 300k+ miles or more! this car is incredible

Warts and Gems
Vehicle
1995 Nissan Maxima 4 Dr GLE Sedan
Review
Maxi has been a good car but I have also had the rough engine engine problem (its the fuel injectors clogging up, folks - use Techron every 3 - 6 months from the day you buy the car or you'll be replacing them). The fuel filter isn't as efficient as it could be. I've replaced the CV's, rear struts, the clutch, 2 injectors (so far - at least one more is going bad), but it doesn't use a drop of oil and it always starts. How much can you really complain about a $1,500 car?
Favorite Features
Horsepower is pleasing. Mileage is good for this powerful a V-6. Good Seats and comfortable positions. Lots of room and a huge trunk.
Suggested Improvements
Fold down rear seats, better rust- proofing on added rear spoiler. A much better fuel filter system.

Happy Nissan Owner!!
Vehicle
1995 Nissan Maxima 4 Dr GLE Sedan
Review
I've been very happy with my Maxima purchase. I've only owned the car 4 months, but only routine maintenance is required. (Car has 142,000 miles) No major problems, except bad water pump seal. Minor oil leak, which is the oil pressure switch, diagnosed by my mechanic The 3.0 engine I LOVE, along with the super-quiet, comfortable ride. I thought about trading it in for a '95 Camry (with car payments-no thanks)!! Then I decided not to because my Max is so beautiful in/out, along with the Nissan reliability! Drives too damn good to even THINK about giving him up. Change all fluids regularly and it'll last forever. No car payments! Nissan Maxima is the way to go for reliability!!!!
Favorite Features
Gorgeous leather interior, style, tons of power, inner appearance, CD player, sunroof, comfort, the engine and transmission are smooth as silk, reliability, reliability and did I mention reliability?!!! I LOVE the fact that this car has timing chains and not belts. Chains last SO much longer.
Suggested Improvements
Wider rearview mirror, this model is supposed to be equipped with heated front seats and isn't, wider tires, eliminate those damn check engine light problems! Better location for cupholders so drinks don't spill into the tranny shift lock. Remote trunk in a bad location next to my left thigh!

One of the bad ones!!!
Vehicle
1995 Nissan Maxima 4 Dr GLE Sedan
Review
This car supposedly has tons of wonderful reputations. I got stuck with major expensive internal motor work needed. It does have a lot of power and has never left me stranded. These cars can blow the Hondas off the road with the power it has!! It has an engine miss, and the unusual thing about this problem is, it comes and goes! It's had a rough idle, stumbling and bucking. But these symptoms last occurred about 1 month ago and has been a smooth, beautiful ride ever since!! One mechanic told me since it was running on five cylinders, it's got bad valves. It also hisses and I know that's in need of an EGR valve. Yes, the check engine light and needs an anti-knock sensor! Not cheap!
Favorite Features
My favorite features on my Max are Excellent Bose sound system/cd player, the extremely comfy leather interior, (perfect for my bad lower back!), handles, beautifully, reliability, smooth-as-silk engine and tranny, (when it's not bucking and stumbling!), exterior/interior design, and p-sunroof.
Suggested Improvements
Eliminate the "check engine" light problem in these cars!! Add longer- lasting sensors with better quality, better cup holder location, and stuff spills into my transmission shifter!! Also, this car needs a much better place for the power mirror switch. Behind the steering wheel is ridiculous!!
