Engine Stalling Problem
Have a 1993 Nissan Maxima that is having intermittent stalling problems. Car starts okay in Park or neutral and when you put it into gear, either reverse or drive it stalls. Doesn't always do this and some times will run for days without any problems. Have had to dealer and they can't get it to act up. Has anyone experienced this same problem. Fuel pump seems okay ... Bought one!
The 2004 Maxima SE is a sweet drive, so much so that I bought one with automatic just a few days ago. I've never driven former Maxima's so I can't contribute to that thread. I am a Nissan man thanks to amazingly reliable 1993 Altima (which I traded in). I love the new styling and the interior. Library quiet. I get little lean in corners and am not bothered by torque steer. ... Read More...

1993 Nissan Maxima GXE Alarm Trouble
I just bought a used 1993 Maxima GXE automatic, and have been happy with everything, with the exception of the anti-theft system. I didn't even know it had a factory alarm until a policeman rang my bell at 2am and gave me a ticket for it being on for over 4 minutes. I pulled a fuse, but it turned out to be a relay fuse which the guy who installed my SECOND alarm told me needed ... Read More...

Hello everybody, I have just joined this discussion group. My name is sameer. I am considering buying a used Nissan Maxima GXE (1993), that has 107K miles on it. When I drove the car, I found that the car pulled to the right, ....but beyond that I was not able to find any noticeable driving problem in the car...the car has a fabulous exterior and interior too!! When should a timing chain be replaced?
Timing chains....
I realize that this discussion centers around the Nissan Maxima, but I'll toss this out as food for thought. My wife used to have a 1993 Chevy Caprice with the 350 cu in V-8. The crank seal on the front cover started to leak oil around 45,000 miles. Being a decent mechanic, I pulled the front cover off the engine to fik the leak, and was greatly surprised at the slack ... 93 GXE - A variety of weird problems
I own a 1993 Maxima GXE with 75K miles. I am totally impressed with this car, it's options, and reliability. I have several minor problems that I would like advice on: 1. Noisy rear brakes. Especially when cold I get excessive brake squeal. A Nissan mechanic told me this is normal for maxima's. Is this true? I believe the rear brakes are drum (the brake shoes were ... Read More...
Nissan Maxima Prices Paid and Buying Experience
Shot at 100K -- hard to believe.
Checked Edmunds for a 1993 GXE list trade-in at 4396, retail $6,500. Could it be that the mechanic wants to be the purchaser at auction. I know this may sound like a Condit answer, but the dealer could be a cheat, or completely honest, a very good, careful mechanic, or one who wants to make a good deal for himself. See if you can find an independent Nissan specialist. ... Read More...
