Great Truck!
Vehicle
2004 Nissan Frontier 4dr Crew Cab XE-V6 4WD LB (3.3L 6cyl 5M)
Review
I purchased this truck used in May 2008 to replace a 2000 Dodge Dakota. The truck drives well and can haul whatever I throw in the bed. The 4wd is flawless and works well when the snow flies. The truck has limited slip differentials, so I never get stuck. I have the long bed 4-door model, which is a bit difficult to park in tight situations, but the bigger bed is worth the trade off. The V-6 runs great and gets decent gas mileage for a truck this long. The automatic transmission is lazy on the downshifts, but runs fine. Wish it had a fifth gear for better fuel economy. I installed a Magnaflow exhaust on it, which helped freeway merging and mid- range power greatly.
Favorite Features
Long bed for hauling Handling/braking 4-doors for family hauling in a pinch Durability to abuse Good looks/features Reliability
Suggested Improvements
Bit more room in both front and back seats Transmission is typical "slushbox" Move HVAC controls below radio More power/economy

Such a Great Truck
Vehicle
2004 Nissan Frontier 2dr King Cab XE-V6 4WD SB (3.3L 6cyl 5M)
Review
I have had this truck for 5 years now and i love it. Never gave me any problems and i have done very little maintenance to it in 53,000 miles. The cab space could be a little better and engine performance can be upped a little but i have a K&N intake and magnaflow exhaust to help a bit. It does make rattling and squeaky noises but this is a frontier not a bently. All and all this is a great little truck, i would however like to test drive one of the newer ones with the more powerful engines, one of them could very well be my next truck.
Favorite Features
Exterior design, interior design, extra storage space in the back with the KC model, and the sound of the engine with a nice exhaust behind it.
Suggested Improvements
A tad more horsepower and MPG, even though i installed an aftermarket intake and exhaust it could still be better, an automatic trans thats not to sluggish and better shift points.

Very satisfied owner

I am about to hit 100k miles today (XE V6, 4WD, Crew Cab, 5 speed). Haven't had a problem yet and I've worked it hard. There aren't even any rattles in the interior. It'll tow an 18' boat, haul a yard of stone, plow snow, and commute to work. The ride, handling, and build quality are much better than my previous truck, a Toyota Tacoma. As far as mileage, I have seen 21mpg when driving with a light touch on the highway, but it's mostly 18-20mpg. It's certaintly no worse than any other compact pickup on the market. I did install a Magnaflow exhaust and K&N filtercharger, which helped with throttle response. Overall, I couldn't really ask for more from a truck.
Favorite Features
Utility, reliability, smooth ride.
Suggested Improvements
A little room in the back seat area would be appreciated.

Vehicle
2004 Nissan Frontier 4dr Crew Cab XE-V6 4WD LB (3.3L 6cyl 5M)
Review
Was disappointed by performance on highway, like an old lady, minus pep pills, but slow and sure, will not suggest a speedster to own this auto, built like a truck and drive like a tank, using as much gas to reach a destination,
Favorite Features
Impressive interior as a truck should be
Suggested Improvements
see how engine can be enhanced to get the speed ,while driving on highway

Will not buy another Frontier
Vehicle

Review
This truck is very slow. I know it is a 4 cyl, but it has this habit of shifting into the highest gear when I need it the least (going uphill and accelerating). When I need to accelerate, I have to either press the pedal 1/2 way down to shift, or push the Over Drive button on the shift lever. Speaking of which, you can't shift into a lower gear if you have something plugged into the cigarette lighter. The shift lever is in the way. Also, the plastic plug to the cigarette lighter is always falling out. DO NOT DRIVE this truck in the snow. It will not make it up even the slightest of grades. Even with XL tires, the back end is very light and slips everywhere. Don't buy this death trap.
Favorite Features
The only good thing is that the engine runs, and strangelly it pulls a trailer pretty well for a 4-cyl. But, it sucks gas like a 6 or 8 cyl, no matter how much you baby it. I probably would have been better off with a 6 cyl, 4x4 but I didn't have an extra $7K to spend.
Suggested Improvements
Changing the oil on the Frontier is very difficult. Every car I have had is a breeze but not the Frontier. Underneath the truck, you have to remove this flimsy, dirty flap out of the way and snake your hand through perfectly to reach the oil filter, tearing up your arm in the process.

Great Truck
Vehicle
2004 Nissan Frontier 4dr Crew Cab SVE-V6 4WD SB (3.3L 6cyl S/C 4A)
Review
I have driven this little truck for 98000 miles with no problems. One set of tires and windshield wipers. Nothing else. Great in the sand at the beach. Has some issues puling and seems to be a little gutless on hills or with a big load and gets about 19 miles to the gallon. Not great but this little truck is as dependable as they get. I even push a little snow in the winter.

Solid Reliable and a great value

Review
I've owned my '04 for 4 years now. Just got done with a 1500 mile trip to Lake Tahoe and not a single problem, fuel economy average was 26.95 mpg!!! It's true that it lacks power but just use the lower gears and you will be just fine! I have towed 2000 lbs regularly without issues. As far as reliability goes, it is GOLD, I haven't had a single problem so far. In the last 4 years and 55,000 miles I only had a flat tire once!! For the money you can't get anything better in the entry level compact truck segment.
Favorite Features
Looks, solid reliability, bed extender, bedliner, ABS works terrific in the snow.
Suggested Improvements
Power needs to be increased to at least 170 hp, get rid of the sliding rear window as it enables thieves to break-in, improve the brakes.

Review
I've owned the Frontier for over 8 months now, and I am selling it today. Any major problems? No, just a coolant leak. Maybe I am too young and immature yet, but the truck, while not bad in any particular way, is just not what I was looking for. I would keep it if perhaps if I needed a truck and wasn't using it as a daily driver.
Favorite Features
Bed extender, and the truck can actually hold quite a bit of weight. Get the 5 speed, I can't imagine how slow the automatic is. Reliable truck.
Suggested Improvements
Gas mileage averaged 23 mpg with my sensitive driving and flowmaster. I've calculated it up to 26 once if I tried to hypermile - but I'd spend all day from point a to b. No cc and I think my biggest complaint was gas tank size. I couldn't get 300 miles on the highway with a 13 gallon tank.
