Yader84 - Did you ever track down a 2003 Frontier tailgate handle? I'm in the same situation - finding the same pre 2000, post 2004 model search results...no luck on the 2003 year. A local Nissan dealer wanted $66 for the 2003 handle, but earlier handle models online were $12-16 (??) What did you find? Thanks.
I want to install new door speakers in my pickup. Is it very difficult to do that?
Lately on my 04 frontier I have been getting a squeeking of the frame on the drivers side. I jacked it up several times and though the squeeking was coming from the bolt that holds the bottom of the shock in place. I greased it and it got quiet but now is worse. Not sure that was actually the problem. It is loud enough I can feel the vibration in my ... Read More
Sayan, I'm having similar issues with my 2004 Frontier Crew Cab SC...it's very inconsistent in occurrence but is unfortunately getting worse. Sometimes when cornering the transmission will slip and once it catches the gear will slam on the drivetrain . Just bought it...has only 32000 miles . I'm taking it in to the dealer tomorrow in hopes they will find a solution and hopefully one covered by either the factory warranty ... Read More
I researched this purchase until I wore myself out and not to mention a few sales reps. Tacoma vs. Frontier - and to some degree the Dakota and the Chevy mid-size. I did not look at the Ford Ranger simply because Ford dealerships were rarely in my path of travel, and its the only brand of vehicle I never owned in my 43 years. I had owned a 95 Nissan Pickup ... I couldn't agree more Rocketman. I test drove both trucks back to back more than once and found that the Nissan not only suited me more, but that I preferred practically everything about it. I had already researched both trucks to death, dating back to the Fall of 2004, and after multiple test drives chose the Frontier. I prefer the ride, size, handling, look (interior and exterior) of the Nissan. The ... Read More
I spent a lot of time laboring over which to get, a Tacoma or a Frontier. I'll apologize in advance for what will be a very long message, but I'm a slightly different type of buyer and thought I'd share all of my thoughts for those with similar needs as they generally are not otherwise addressed. I needed to replace my 1999 regular cab base Chevy S10. I've cared for it ... Read More
Does anyone know how much (approx) lift I could gain by putting stock Titan wheels on my 2004 Nissan Frontier XE 4cyl 2wd?....or is there a cheaper or equivelant route I could take to gain a little clearance?
I had a 2004 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4 - 6cyl. I now have a 2005 Frontier 4x4 6Cyl. If I had not rolled my Tacoma, I'd still have it. It got nearly identical mileage as compared to my Frontier. While it had "only" 190 HP, it was plenty. However, the engine in the new Nissan blows the OLD tacoma engine away. The 2005 Tacomas were on my list, but all things ... Read More

Toykick, First let me say that I think the Tacoma is a very nice truck and I considered one when I bought my Frontier. That being said I take issue with you on the quality being much less in the Frontier than in the Tacoma. I am not sure what your definition of quality is, but I did not see that much difference in the two trucks when I was looking ... Read More
Yes, the Tacoma is more desirable. Since this is a "New 2005 Toyota Tacoma vs 2005 Nissan Frontier" forum I am comparing Tacoma sales vs. Frontier sales. That was my point and the original reason for the post. For whatever reason the Colorado got brought into this. They are cheap, period. People who don't do research buy cheap, replaceable things. We here in this forum have obviously done our research and ... Read More
We have a 2004 Nissan Frontier and since day one it has brake noise. When you come to a complete stop it makes a clunking/grabbing noise and when you take your foot off the brake it does the same. We told them we wouldn't buy it if it was a problem the day we test drove it. They said it was new and the sound would go away once the brakes ... Read More
Anyone know where to find one for a 2004 Frontier Crew Cab 2WD? We're looking for a 3" suspension lift kit. Everything we find is for a 4WD or for older model Nissans. Got any good leads, hit me up. Thanks. Climbr
I would note that I have used the standard purolators and the Pure Ones. Both are good filters, I think. I have opened those, too. BOTH have Anti-drainback valves. ANY filter for the Nissan Frontier or Tacoma (I had a 2004), or any of the Hondas I've owned ought to have an Anti-drainback valve. I think Purolator filters are pretty good. The black-packaged Bosch are nice, too, for the $... VERY ... Read More
Given that Consumer Reports has recommended the Frontier 7 out of the last 8 years, I think that being recommended for 2005 is a very good bet. Probably the 2004 Frontier will be recommended by next year once additional data is collected. Keep in mind any new model (Toyota, Honda, or Nissan) in its first year is suspect. Just think the latest Camry was only given average reliability in its first ... Read More
Don't now if this helps, but thought I'd add it . . I have had a similar problem with a 1991 Nissan Pickup and a 2004 Xterra. On both, the problem was before the first oil change. On the 1991 Pickup, the problem was a loose bolt on one of the skid plates. On the 2004 Xterra, the rear bolts on the plate covering the underside of the engine ... Read More
I bought my Frontier Crew Cab SE-V6 on Friday. Got exactly what I wanted (which wasn't much): Crew Cab, SE-V6 2-Wheel Drive Manual Transmission Power Package ABLS Microfilter Storm Gray w/ Charcoal Interior Sticker price was $22,360. Since no one had invoice pricing on any of the internet sites, I was kind of "flying blind" when it came to negotiating the price. I chose to negotiate most on the ... Read More
Jason, Thanks for the detailed reviews. Love the look of this truck vs. the Taco, but still not completely sold on either... I would bet money on it because alot of the dealer are getting stuck with the 2004,thats what I think, but Nissan should just drop the price and just sell them for the invoice already, they can still make a few bucks, so they can just pump out their old stock. The dealer in NJ by my house only has one Le crew cab and thats its and a ton of o4,who wants a ... Yesterday I bought a '04 Frontier. Includes auto V6, power D/L/W, 6 speaker system w/single CD, LB, crew cab, 6 year extended warranty for $21K. Bought it at Mossy Nissan in Oceanside, CA. Nissan can't seem to sing from the same songbook. Their web site says "late 2004", a dealer in my area says January, Feb. I've read on here from deep purple that the trucks will be coming into the dealers on 12.15. I don't know who to believe. Sales people are notoriously clueless. Dealers who have 04 inventory are under pressure to unload that stock before they can get their 05 allotment. ... Read More
Yeah, I just noticed that myself. However, I spoke with a few dealers and Nissan corporate regarding the 2005 Frontier and I was told that while some trucks may actually hit lots by the middle of November, the official release is going to be December 2004. SMYRNA, Tenn. Here is a quote from the Nissan press release dated February, 2004. "The Frontier’s maximum towing capacity is rated at more than 5,500-plus pounds." So they say that it will handle at least 5500 lbs. My guess would be that it will not be rated for more than 6000 lbs. The towing capacity is based on the frame and suspension, but it also depends on transmission and engine strength. In any ... Read More
2 things... 1. nissan doesnt rate its gas mileage. the numbers you see on the stickers of every car sold in the US are EPA estimates only. 2. gas mileage will increase as the vehicle is broken in. you should see the best mileage for the life of the truck between 10k and 30k miles.
Okay I Tried to wait for the 05's to come out, but I couldn't pass up $2500 rebate. So I got a new Frontier a month ago. I know the gas milage is rated at 17-21 MPG but I haven't hit 17 yet. As anyone else had this problem? Does Nissan over rate it gas milage??

It is going to be a late introduction. September to December 04. Winter 2004 is the one that STARTS in 2004, so it is not over;) If the Frontier is not selling well, and it is not, then perhaps Nissan may stop the line to retool early, although I doubt it.
Bowke, or anyone else who may know, When will the new Frontier go on sale? The pictures of the doudle cab are real nice, IMO better then any of the previous models.
