Re: 2000 Nissan Frontier, 5 speed manual cont. [brian_jp]

Sounds like the clutch throw-out bearing or the bushing. Actually, I have a '98 Frontier 4WD and it has done the same thing a couple of times but then it stopped. The bad news is that it is a real pain to change because you have to remove the transmission do get to the throw-out bearing. If you get to that change the clutch plate too.

It is the throw out bearing on your clutch. My father has a 98 Forntier and it does it too. Keep driving it with the knowledge that you will need to replace the through out bearing in the future Ryan

Tires too large
Written by: brian_jp on Sep 27, 2006 8:16:44 AM
Hello, I recently purchased a 2000 Nissan Frontier 4 x 4 that has P275 / 75 / R16 tires on it. The tires are brand new, so the previous owner didn't have them on the truck for long. I don't know if they had that size on before the current set, lets hope not. I was wondering what the short or long term side effects or damage this could cause? The ... Read More

could just be that you are not used to the clutch... some trucks are louder clutches, too, esspecially if you are used to a car.

Written by: brian_jp on Sep 26, 2006 12:38:44 PM
Hello, When I'm shifting into gears, there seems to be a knock or a "groan" when I'm releasing the clutch. Seems to do it going into every gear. I want to make sure nothing is loose. The clutch doesn't slip when it's fully engaged? Anyone else with this strange noise? I just bought the truck, and I'm trying to make sure everything is good to go. Thanks, Brian

I took my 05 Frontier to Nissan (Hudiburg Nissan) in OKC and they fixed the problem. I downloaded this document off the web: http://www.nissanhelp.com/Ownership/Bulletins/Nissan/2005/NTB05-015.htm Showed the service department manager the doc and he found a TSB on the item and was able to make th e repair. If you have the 2000 rpm engine knock download the doc and take it to Nissan.

Boone88rr, Well said, I did look at the Tacoma when I bought my Frontier. I honestly did not see very much difference between the two for the type of driving and hauling that I do. More Hot Air
Written by: croy2 on Apr 24, 2001 10:52:44 PM
I too have noticed the "hot air" issue in my 2000 CC. This issue was discussed several months ago on the Yahoo Frontier clubhouse. The cause seems to be that the vent intake is routed too close to the catalytic converter, thus the heat exchange raising the temperature of ambient air. Basically a design fault, and one that Nissan probably will do nothing about. Just a minor inconvienence, but still a ... Read More

The Dakota Quad Cab is a beautiful truck. Unfortunately it's not nearly as reliable as the Nissan. Go to Yahoo.com and the Nissan Frontier Clubhouse and ask your question there too. My understanding is Dodge products eat transmissions. Even if it's warranteed you don't need the aggravation. I have my 2000 Crew Cab since February 2000 and have 12000 miles with ZERO problems. I hope I helped you. Robert

If the 60/40 split bench is available in the standard 2000 Frontier, why not the CC? That would enable you to have 6 people fit in if necessary. According to the literature I received from my Nissan dealer, the front seat is available in Bucket Seats or 60/40 bench so why not the CC?

What is Over Priced?

The Nissan Crew Cab is a great deal for an SUT. Consider the prices of today's family sedans or even the prices for a full-size reg. cab 4x2 pick-ups both groups serve their own useful purpose. The Crew Cab however compromises between the two for what I considered a good value. The price and size critique in Edmund's review mentioned a comparison between Nissan Crew Cab and a Chevy Silverado. That's ... Read More

Cncman, I know your in sales and thought you may want to know Ford has moved production/debut of its Explorer Sport Trac up to January 2000. Its going to sport a 206HP/245ft/lbs single-overhead-cam V6! Larger interior, 4x4 or 4x2 models, and tons of standard features. Better get to sellin those Frontier crew cabs, once these hit the market Nissan will be a hurtin unit.
