I currently own a 1999 nissan frontier.. There barely any travel in the front suspension with out it bottoming out.. The rear of the truck sits much higher than the front.. 61/2 in from top of the wheel to the bottom of the wheel well.. compared to the 21/2 in in the front.. how is this fixed? Any suggestions would be helpful.. Thanks Ryan82
I spent a lot of time laboring over which to get, a Tacoma or a Frontier. I'll apologize in advance for what will be a very long message, but I'm a slightly different type of buyer and thought I'd share all of my thoughts for those with similar needs as they generally are not otherwise addressed. I needed to replace my 1999 regular cab base Chevy S10. I've cared for it ... Read More
Ryancey, Thanks for the great insight! I will check that out! Looks like there might be a very, very small power steering leak. Is that a major repair? Appreciate any advice! Riot1
Does your engine have a block heater?? My truck has developed a small leack where the block heater attaches to the engine. A very small amout of fluid/steam gets out. Not enough to cause issues. Check it out.
Good Morning. Recently purchased a 1999 Nissan Frontier 4 x 4 for work/off-roading. Since I have gotten it, I have noticed that after turning the engine off that the engine will let off steam. (Almost like the radiator is over-heating) I have checked all fluids, hoses or belts that I can see, but nothing seems out of place. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Riot1
I understand what you're saying. There is a reason I didn't add the Ranger to this particular discussion when I created it, and it's because it is not competitve with these models anymore. They have all grown up to midsize, while the Ranger is still obviously a compact, like that of the 1996 Tacoma or 1999 Nissan Frontier I have driven. I guess that makes since because the Ranger hasn't really ... Read More
Hello, This truck has 220,000 miles on it Alot of highway driving and still has the original rear brake shoes REplace front brake pads every 50,000 miles and rotors once I don't think the load compensating valve is working correctly any suggestions csanders20@nc.rr.com
Ok, I've been through quite a few threads in this post. 9/7, I sold my trusty 1999 SR5/TRD Taco. It had 131,000 miles and ran/drove great! Love that truck. Naturally, I'm thinking of going w/another Taco but it's looking like the Frontier is in the lead for these reasons: - The Frontier runs optimal on 87 Octane. The Taco suggests/requires Premium. (I had 80,000 miles on my '99 Taco and filled ... Read More
Hello I have a 1999 Nissan Frontier,I recently noticed that when I turn on the head lights the third brake light comes on its not brightly lite but stays on with the head lights. The rear brake lights work as normal any help would be appreciated.
Might be an easy fix there daddy-o. Could be the neutral safety switch. If it is and automatic, make sure it is all the way in park. Also try starting while it is in neutral. Might be the cause. Also check you battery cables for corrosion. Hope this helps!
My frontier will start and run but as soon as you turn it off it will not start again for awhile has anybody had this problem and would you let me know what it is this truck is used in my work and I need it on the road as fast as possible thanks
Any commits as to reliability would be great, do anyone have one that they can commit on? Thanks
Just traded my 1999 Dodge Dakota ST Crew Cab V6 for 2001 Nissan Frontier Crew 4x2, SE model 5 speed. I love this truck. This Dodge had a history of too many problems for a new vehicle, computer failed, over-heating and broke down several times. Had to be towed in for repairs while out of state on vacation. Now at 35k miles, already into brakes, new tires and motor had no ... Read More
