Vehicle2013 Nissan Altima 3.5 SL 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl CVT)
ReviewAfter driving a Lexus GS 300 for 268k miles with very few problems, it was difficult not to be loyal to Toyota. However, the new 2013 Altima is special. The dealership gave me the 2.5 to drive for a day and a half. Unfortunately it had neither the quickness or engine smoothness I had been living with ijn the Lexus V6 for so long. At stop lights it rumbles, and at highway speed is noisy. The CVT is smooth, but felt like it was working hard. The 3.5 is very different. The power engine 270HP, is refined, and operates seamlessly with the CVT. Watch out Camry, Accord, Passat, Outback, Fusion, and Lexus ES350. This Altima has game.
Best FeaturesV6 Power plant 270HP, CVT is very smooth, paddle shifters are fun, interior is upscale for the money, seat comfort and headroom is excellent for my 6'4" frame, sound system is decent, brakes are good, steering is a little soft but confident, trunk is hugh and passes through the rear seats for skies, heated steering wheel, overall fit and finish is very good for the money, gas mileage is 31, road noise is minimal, overall size of the vehicle gives me a safe feeling, this is not a small car. My first Nissan, and the dealership was excellent.
Worst FeaturesThe steering wheel feels like it is wrapped in pleather not leather, the CVT, although very smooth, trys to find 6th gear a little too soon after start off the line, so i do a lot of down shifting and it's not a problem, not much else to complain about.

There's no 6th gear in a CVT. CVT's arte gearless so I don't know where you think you have a 6th gear.Report it

Have you tried leaving it in Ds mode? In D it will try to be as efficient as possible and jumps to the higher ratios faster. Ds, not so much.Report it
