I currently lease a 2009 Altima, which is due to be turned in on February 1. I just got off the phone w/ NMAC; the rep indicated that if I lease/finance a new Nissan or Infiniti thru NMAC, they will waive the $395 disposition fee I would normally owe on the 2009 Altima. Also, she stated that I have a 10-day grace period on the turn-in date, so even though I ... Read More
Can't go wrong with either.. but really depends on what you want it for.. They are cars from two different categories. Altima: Larger, more roomy, bigger trunk space, but lower mileage Sentra: Smaller/compact, but pretty good mileage Decide the size, then compare the price between a used and new car for the same car..
Thanks, will try that. As far as '09 Altima or '12 Sentra goes, which one is a better pick?
Banks will almost always have high rate than credit unions. Try penfed & nwfcu. If you have excellent credit, you should qualify for either at 1.99 and 1.49% respectively.
The price offered by an independent used car dealership is 17K but they don't negotiate at all and they don't finance. I checked with the bank and with the down payment and all, the interest rate would be 6.9% (which I think is really high for someone with an excellent credit)... Anyway, the real question is that with the interest, is the car worth buying? It is loaded with heated leather ... Read More

Hi. i am looking to lease a 2012 nissan altima SL with convience, convience plus, and audio packages. 39 month lease and 15000 miles. i am trading in a 2009 nissan maxima on a lease which would end in may. residual payoff amount is about 21000. the dealership offered 305 a month with 1500 down. does this sound like a good deal? thanks scott
If I was shopping within your parameters, there are three cars that would make it on my short list- 2008-2009 Nissan Altima 3.5SE (Coupe or Sedan) 2009-2010 Mazda6 s Touring/Grand Touring 2008-2009 Subaru Legacy 3.0R All of them are fast (0-60 in the low 6-second range or below), reliable (rated above average by Consumer Reports for reliability) and you can find them for around $20k with under 50k miles. Nissan has been notorius for noisy brakes. I had a 2007 Altima that squealed bad when braking for a red light or on a slope. Last week--December, 2009--I received a letter from Nissan (I have a 2007 Altima 3.5 SE with 12,000 miles that I bought on 12/21/06) concerning the fact that some owners had experienced trouble with their CVT after the warranty had expired. Just keep in mind, that the majority of the CVT issues are with the 1st Gen CVT from 2003-2007 model year Nissan's. The 1st Gen Murano is particularly affected with CVT troubles. Now, I'm not sure when the updated/more refined 2nd Gen CVT made its ... Read More

I'd go with the Infiniti. Excellent repair record and that engine is just a bored 3.5 which Nissan has used for years. The car was not redesigned or anything that year to any great extent so it's nothing like buying a completely new redesign or new powertrain. Resale value is good and is a lot more luxurious than the Altima. Powertrain is warranteed for 6yrs/70k I believe.

Every manufacturer has some lemons. I'm on my 4th Altima (2010 now) and 4th Infiniti (2009) and I don't have any issues w/ the engine. My brother has a 2005 Altima w/ about 40k miles with no problem also.
Has anyone else had this problem? Something needs to be done.....apparently Nissan makes crappy engines, and doesn't want to take care of the situation. And I am wondering why Altimas have such good ratings......I would never have bought this car if I had known there were so many issues with engines, and now I am stuck fighting with Nissan for a new engine.
Probably not....I have a 2009 altima, and the engine block cracked. It's a rare thing to happen to begin with and shouldn't have happened on a year old car. I am fighting Nissan to cover the new engine now. You would think it would be covered by the warrenty, but they dont just go and replace and entire engine without a fight.
I have a 2009 altima....needs new engine....the engine block cracked. shouldn't have happened on a year old car. they are trying to blame it on lack of oil changes....but that's not related to this issue. Hi all! I'm a university student studying transport design in the UK, my latest project is to do a facelift of the Mercury Milan 2006-2009 model, which is annoying considering the 2010 model doesn't look too bad! I was just wondering what everyone in this forum looks for in a sedan for work and family use, but also your view of the direction of design for American sedans! Cheers I look ... Read More
I am thinking about buying a 2009 altima but am concerned about the engine issues that have been posted on this forum. Has Nissan addressed these problems so that the 09 model is problem free?
Last month I bought a 2009 Altima fully loaded with connection pkg and Nav system. The dealer set up my Samsung Epix to Nissan system and tested the phone. We only tested as far as dialing out and receiving calls. A few days later, when I tried to use the telephone, I can make and receive calls but I cannot hear anything and the caller cannot hear me. I can dial, ... Read More
Hi, I bought my car last month :) , July 09, and its loaded with all except the nav system, spoiler, and fog lights at IRA Nissan in Tewksbury, MA. I love the Bose speakers and the sunroof is so sweet. I really like the CVT as I was traded in a 5-speed manual so its a totally different ride. It only took a month to stop trying to shift. I ... Can't tell you much about the CVTs but I purchased an 09 Legacy 2.5SE about a year ago and currently average about 31mpg on the highway with AWD. The EPA estimate is more like 27mpg. So my guess is you would do very well with 2010 Legacy CVT. Actually while at the dealer for an oil change a week ago a salesperson told me she had driven the 2010 CVT on ... Read More
I'm considering either the 2010 legacy (because it has cvt transmission which makes it more fuel efficient) or 2009 Altima (because the 2010 won't be out for another month or more and I need a new car now!) Anybody have any feedback on these two models and the cvt transmission? I've heard interesting things on the cvt...mostly that it's a drive that takes a while to get accustomed to. I test ... Yeah, but that's as loose of a solution as just plugging in to the AUX jack. :-\ Damn Nissan for lying to me -- saying the iPod interface will show up and be controllable on the Nav screen... *grrr*

Does anyone have or know if this brake problem still occurs with the 2009 altimas? I might be getting one and so far everyone has stated that they had either a 07 or 08 altima with this problem; I was hoping maybe cause of the service bulletin and so many people complaining and opening up a case with Nissan directly that they might have corrected the problem for the 2009 models; ...
