Summary
What Edmunds.com says
Once a frumpy wallflower, the Altima is now a midsize sedan to be desired, especially when equipped with the 250-horsepower V6.
Pros
Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons
Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.
What's New for 2005
All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

2005 Nissan Altima 2.5 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I bought my 2005 Nissan altima last month for only $4500 from a private owner.... It had 157,000 miles on the odometer, but it still has a value of $10,000-its a 2.5sl with all the extras.. It has a Bose sound system, spoiler, leather, heated seats, sunroof... The whole package and I love it, its very powerful and the air and heat works perfect, I would definitely recommend someone to purchase a altima

The car sits to low and its scrubs the ground when I have other people in my car, and also it could've had a port to connect my ipod to, but other than that, I love it
Another Great NISSAN
Vehicle
2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 5M)
Review
Researching cars and engines, I decided to buy a Nissan. Didn't like the blown-up Maxima so I bought the Altime 3.5 SE. Great acceleration when manually shift it (5 speed automatic) goes 0-60 in 5.5 seconds with slightly modified engine (performance intake).Gas mileage is good too (19-20 city, 29-30 highway with 93 octane). After rebuilding an older Maxima, I realized you get the most quality and performance for your money with Nissan. Nissan has a great luxury line of autos (Infiniti) especially the G3 5.
Favorite Features
Great motor and transmission, excellent speedometer/tachometer setup, 5 speed automatic can be manually shifted. Great interior styling. Mine came with the great looking side skirts and rims
Suggested Improvements
I replaced the stock exhaust tips with bigger, sportier looking tips that match the bumper lot better
It's Been A Great Car So Far!

2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE-R 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 6M)
Review
The only major thing I'd change would be that I would have gotten the 6-speed manual rather than the 5-speed automatic, but that wasn't my choice. Of course, there are some minor annoyances, but overall it's a fantastically fun, yet practical, sedan to own.
Favorite Features
You actually have some control in the "manual mode" of the 5-speed automatic transmission model (meaning it won't automatically upshift for you, but it will downshift if needed); Accelerates like mad; Stability & control are great; Trunk space is great and seats fold down; Excellent highway mileage
Suggested Improvements
Much noisier than the 1996 Maxima I owned prior to this car; The A/C vents could use more motion/directional control; Defrost does little to combat fog, especially in humid conditions; Rearview mirrors don't fold/are rigid; So low to the ground that brick roads and speedbumps assault you a bit.

I purchased my 05 in Jan. of 05 with 60 miles on it - today I have 99500! And it is still going strong, it does have road noise, and i find that it doesn't ride all that smooth. I had a battery problem 3 winters in a Row - Nissan replaced the battery each time - nothing really determined except needed new battery. I agree, tires from Nissan are awful on set # 3 (first 2 from Nissan) and need new brakes/rotors - GREAT gas mileage approx. 425 miles per tank! I do alot of highway driving...Wonder how much longer it will last?
Favorite Features
Interior Room, Trunk space, Overall pretty good car
Suggested Improvements
Hard to park in tight spots, cheap interior parts, road noise
BEST PURCHASE I'VE EVER MADE!

Review
This car literally rocks my socks. I have fallen in love with Nissans. By far the best made car I have ever owned. Went from a Mazda6 to a Buick Rendezvous and now this Nissan. Very clean and reliable car. Have a blast driving it! Plenty of room for my 7month old daughter and all her belongings. Who says you have to get a mini van after you have a child!?! NISSAN IS THE BEST!!! As well as their luxury end of vehicles (Infinity). Wonderful performance.
Favorite Features
BOSE sound system, sunroof, interior, engine, great gas mileage. I have had no problems with loud sounds when I drive so overall..FABULOUS CAR!
