Hope you found the problem to your air conditioning. I would check for a recall on that problem. Are you by any chance having problems with your catalytic converter. There was a recall out there #03v084000. This is only one of many recalls for this make model and year. I too have been battling with Nissan North American Inc. with regards to a recall campaign #03v084000. My catalytic converter went out on August 8th 2008. My car has 96,764 miles right now. They say my vin# was not included in the recall but I'm having the same problems all the other 2002 Nissan Altimas 2.5s are having. I filed a complaint with NHTSA. If they get enough ... A base Altima 6MT weighs 3,112 according to Nissan's own website. 2002-2004 3049Lbs 2005 3075Lbs 2006 3090Lbs 2007 3055Lbs 2008 3112Lbs(!)(sedan)/3052(coupe) 60lbs in one year... I would have to say the Nissan Altima is your best bet. My family has been a nissan family since 1989. I bought this I4 2002 Altima with 73,000 miles in January 08 used.I have been averaging 18.8-22.3 in the cith and 26-31 on the highway.When i use pen and paper there are some discrepancies as reported by other contributors. I HAD a 2002 Altima with lots of problems, Replaced the pre cat, Check engine light stayed on. I took it to the dealer and theyt told me I needed a new engine, I contacted Nissan Headquarters and they did say they were sorry, but nothing they can do, it wasnt a recall issue. I have a 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5 with all of the recall work performed. I think I may just hollow out my cats sometime in the near future just to do it. I don't want the check engine light on. What has bin rong with your 2004 Nissan Altima bisides the recalls and now the engian light cumming on at 100900 Miles and the dealer telling you that you nead a new oxygen sencer. Probbly one is bad not boath Oxygen sencers. My dad baught a hundai with 90000 Miles that the engian light came on when he got it and it was a bad Oxygen sencer. that does not make a car a lemin ... I Have a 2002 Altima, After taking it to have the pre cat changed at the tune of $700 the car was runing like it should. Well thats before I checked the oil.. It ended up using one quart every 500 miles.. I took it to the dealer and they said there was no recall on the pre cat or oil consumption.. Both these problems occured within a month of each other..
