Was very happy right up til recently when my air intake manifold gasket was found to be leaking, causing the car to have a rough idle and possibly burn the #4 cylinder due to an engine hotspot. Great. Engine light will come on, and repair bill will be around $800, as it is an 8-9 hour job my Nissan dealer told me, and will happen again and again as the hot spot in the engine causing the burning is not able to be fixed.
great car, til the intake manifold goes ..... lol
Due to the nature of the problem, a recall should be put forward by Nissan to fix any affected cars.
so your not happy with your altima because the intake gasket blew after what.....9 YEARS !!! come on man !!! dont dog the car just because you have to do some maintenance after nine freakin years....besides, you are anyone else should know you shouldnt go to the dealership unless your getting warranty work done....the book on that job list at 5.5 hours...and yes it probably will happen again....IN ANOTHER 9 YEARS !!! and the hot spot in the engine???? i bet he sold you a new car didnt he... lol...the job would have cost you about 550 to 600 at any decent honest machanic....just replaced mine after 13 years...cost me around 20 bucks for gaskets and a whole day and nights work....this being that i am not a professional mechanic and i also have a nice tv in the garage which tends to distract me during games :D
....... so with this being said, besides typical maintenance like the belt, plugs, brakes and such, the intake gasket is the only major job ive had to do to the 2000 which i can gladly deal with after 13 years of faithful service.....that and also the driverside leather is breaking down only because the 2007 altima has garage rights along with my HO slot car track with a 16 ft strait away :D
and the texas sun can be just darn right mean.....dont be to sore at your nissan dealer either...selling new cars is what hes paid to do......great car til you get a flat tire......lol
