Nissan Altima Maintenance and Repair
Re: [rugmankc]
All Nissan models have timing chains ... the Altima has always had chains, never a belt ... belts on most cars DO need changing at 60k, 90, or 105k, depending on the year and manufacturer ... chains need no maintenance but should be checked periodically because they can looen over the years and usually make a clicking sound when that happens ... I also change my 5W30 ... Read More...
Long Term Reliability of Nissan Altima
Nissan Altima Reliability: A Tribute to my '93.
:) I bought a 1993 Altima new. I still have the car. It has 285,000 miles on it. It is now having transmission problems, and I fear transmission repair or replacement would not be cost effective. I still love the car, the quality, reliability, solid feeling, and actually everything about it. The body and the interior are in great condition. The power windows work ... Read More...

Re: NIssan Altima Tops Consumer Reports [lilengineerboy]
I actually much prefer the 1990-1993 Accord to the 1994-199(6 or 7?) in every way. The handling was the best ever (90-93). In 94 they had to make the car larger, and heavier, to accomodate the newly available V6 engine. In 92 the Accord was too small for a V6, now it seems to be too large for the I4 IMO. Read More...

I actually much prefer the 1990-1993 Accord to the 1994-199(6 or 7?) in every way. I have spent a lot of time with both and in terms of driving dynamics, visibility, comfort, etc I prefer the earlier version. The 94-97 felt like a blob. I looked at the 98-'02 version before a purchase in 1998/9 and I ended up with something that better met my needs/wants. In 2005 we ... Read More...

Re: NO...that's not a FACELIFT... [maxamillion1]
Omigod, I've finally come across someone that can tell the minor differences between a particular model car spanning between 1993 and 2007! I am very impressed, Maxamillion. I have to tell you, in my last three purchases of Nissans in the past 11 years, not one salesman had the knowledge of the cars like you do. You see, I happen to be the same way. I can differentiate ... Read More...

nissan altima 1993
MY 93 NISSAN ALTIMA IS EMITTING BLACK SMOKE FROM THE MUFFLER, THIS IS USUALLY PRECEDED BY THE CAR TURNING OFF. THE CAR TURNS ON RIGHT AWAY BUT SPUTTERS A BIT. OTHER SYMPTOMS INCLUDE EXCESSIVE FUEL CONSUMPTION, CAR TURNS OFF WHILE IN IDLE AT A STOP LIGHT, SPARKPLUGS ARE EXTREMELY CARBONATED. IVE REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER, OXYGEN CENSOR, GAS REGULATOR, AND SPARK ... Read More...
