Hymanyclan, Here is the link to the digital 2009 manual for the Nissan Altima Hybrid: http://www.nissanextendedwarranty.com/owners-manual/nissan/2009-Nissan-Altima-Hy- brid.pdf It also states that 87 Octane (using the (R+M)/2 method as we see on our pumps in USA and Canada (=RON of 91-92) is fine.
For a Nissan dealer to blame the engine problems known to occur and that have been discussed in this forum and elsewhere on use of regular gas is scandalous! The manual for my 2008 Altima Hybrid (which I purchased brand new in January 2009) states in chapter nine section three (9-3) states:"Use unleaded regular gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87 AKI (Anti-Knock Index) number (Research Octane Number 91)". ... I purchased a 2007 Altima Hybrid as a used car in Sep 2009 and had no problems until recently when i had similar problems as other readers with vibration/shaking on startup and braking when the hybrid did not aways kick in as it usually did. I had bought the car from a non Nissan dealer and they advised to bring to a Nissan dealer to find the problem. They found the ... Read More
Hi, If I get a brand new Nissan Altima Hybrid 2009 now, would i still be able to get the 2350 tax credit for hybrid vehicles? or does the federal tax credit apply to only 2010 nissan altima hybrids? for tax year 2010. Thanks
I'm looking for an economical way to change the oil on my 2009 Nissan Altima Hybrid, I actually bought it in April, new. I don't want to risk anything with the warranty by not doing the oil changes frequently. So I'm actually going to do the 3 month scheduled oil changes, even though I'm anticipate being nowhere close to the mileage suggestions. I normally change my own oil, so is there ... Read More
New 2009 NAH bought in Nov. 2009 (under $19k with Nissan rebate, dealer discount and tax rebate). Bought it just as it was getting cold. Definitely not in the same league as the 2001 Honda Civic I was driving. MPG definitely drops in big-time in cold weather. In below-freezing weather the NAH takes about 20 minutes to get warm enough for the hybrid EV system to activate. Also, the car's mileage ... Read More
How many miles do you have on your Altima Hybrid. I neglected to mention that I had 9,800 on my 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid at the time of its one month stay at the dealorship (purchased new January 15th 2009). Mine had the occasional rough start right back to the beginning (purchased with 297 miles on it ....due to drive from New Jersey which is the nearest state selling NAH to ... Read More
Hello Docs Larry and lightshybrid: So they finally returned my NAH to me on January 14th still indicating that there would be a recall next month. Between December 15th 2009 and January 14th 2010, all they accomplished under the incompetent misguidance of Nissan Tech Support was to detect carbon deposits after 10 days. The rest of the time was supposed determining if the valves were damaged, cleaning them and putting it ... Read More
Just bought a new 2009 NAH in New Hampshire, even though NH is not officially one of the 8 states. Current Nissan rebate (Oct. & Nov. 2009) for the '09 NAH is $3,500, and there may be an additional $500 Black Friday incentive. With some negotiating, dealer took an additional $3,000 off the $27,500 base sticker price (not even including their dealer-added transportation, pin-stripping and clear-cote fluff). OTD price (w/o TTL): ... Read More
Car Man I'm looking at a 2009 loaded Altima Hybrid which I want to lease for 24 months with 18k miles per year (will Nissan allow that?) in California. What's the current money factor rate using a Tier 0 or Tier 1 and what's the residual value for that car for that many miles and term. Also, do you have any of the same info available for a 2010 loaded with ... Read More

I just bought a fully loaded 2009 Nissan Altima Hybrid for $27,320 in the SF/Bay Area. I used the internet (edmunds) for my purchase and am satisfied w/ the process. I negotiated remotely with several dealers in my area and nailed it down to a 1 dealer w/ the best price. After we finalized the price, I asked for the "out the door" (OTD) price and prepared my own spreadsheet. When ... Read More
I currently own a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid and was very seriously thinking about buying new 2009 Nissan Altima Hybrid but I never pulled the trigger. The Nissan just didn't seem as "smooth" as the Toyota, although I think it drives better. I also had heard that the NAH did not quite equal the fuel economy of the TCH but I never heard it being as bad as you experienced. General ... Read More
Hi gpb59. Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp.'s June buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2009 Altima 3.5 SL with 15,000 miles per year are .00107 and 56%, respectively. Car_man Host Prices Paid: Buying & Leasing Experiences Forum
I just purchased a 2009 NAH fitted with the technology package at Tonkin Nissan in Wilsonville, Oregon. The final cost was about $24K after a fat $3,500 Nissan rebate, a $2,350 federal tax credit, along with a $1,500 state tax credit, and there is no sales tax in Oregon. The dealership experience was very good. The staff was friendly, professional and well informed. The only issue was simply availability: There was ... Read More
We just purchased a 2009 NAH fitted with the technology package at Tonkin Nissan in Wilsonville, Oregon. The price was just over $28,000 after the $3500 Nissan rebate available through June of this year. Moreover, there is also a very nice $2,350 federal tax credit coming, along with another $1,500 state tax credit here in Oregon. Therefore, the final price for the vehicle was just over $24,000. ;-> The dealership experience ... Read More
Many thanks for confirming my feelings, and steering me clear. Already looked at an 08 Lexus and you are dead on with your comments. I find the Nissan salespeople, my experience and reading others, to be the typical pushy, lying, game-playing stereotypes.
Nissan usually starts the new year production after the 4th of July. However, Hybrids have their own schedule and may not produce the 09's right away. I am a good case in point. Last year, I ordered a NAH with tech. It was not produced until October and delivered shortly after Thanksgiving. That was a real timetable. The tech may have had a delayand they may produce some hybrids before then. ... Read More
I've had mine for about 4 months, for reference. The switch is noticeable, but not dramatically so. The car doesn't make major jerks when it turns on or off, but you can usually feel it. Frankly, I prefer it this way--coming from driving a manual prior to this car, it lets me keep "in tune" with the car similar to how shifting did previously. The complaint I do have is more ... I want my next car to have auxillary input, side curtain airbags, bluetooth, good fuel economy, good crash test results, good reliability, reasonable price and stability control. It's difficult to find something like that. The Altima Hybrid might have been the one, but you have to buy the $5000 option package to get bluetooth and then you have a $30K plus vehicle. You can't get VDC on the 2.5 non-hybrid at ... Read More
