What Is It?
Ford Iosis Concept

What's Special About It?
Sporting a name that sounds like a female superhero, or worse, the process of cell division (depending on your geek status), the Iosis shows Ford of Europe's upcoming design direction.

Called "Kinetic Design," this type of styling is supposed to give the impression of energy in motion. You know, the old "it looks like it's doing a 100 standing still." With its fastback roofline and hidden door hardware, the Iosis is a four-door sedan that looks more like a sleek grand touring coupe.

All four doors pivot up and out, and the rears open opposite the fronts. Doesn't do a heck of a lot for structural integrity but it sure looks cool and would make for easy ingress/egress. Adding to the George Jetson effect is the lack of side mirrors, replaced by cameras.

As this was essentially a styling project, the car didn't have an engine, so we can't comment on whether it would hit Mach 1.

What's Edmunds' Take?
In terms of styling, Ford's been on a roll as of late. Let's hope Ford of Europe's styling language makes it across the pond. — John DiPietro
