2005 Chrysler 300

What Is It?

2005 Chrysler 300

What's Special About It?

Continuing Chrysler's proud tradition of the letter series car, the 300C is a new rear-wheel-drive car that reminds us of a time when V8-powered luxury cars ruled the road. With its distinct but slightly retro styling, the 300C looks the part of a luxury sedan. The non-letter 300 is essentially the same except it has a V6 under the hood instead of the 300C's muscular V8.

Not only is the 300C powered by a good old-fashioned Hemi, but it adds modern technology to the mix as well. The V8 uses a multidisplacement system to save fuel and it's all hooked up to a five-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick. The price starts at about $33,000 but that includes 18-inch wheels, rear-wheel drive, multilink rear suspension, eight-way power driver seat and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel. Options include traction control, HID headlights, adjustable pedals, UConnect, Boston Acoustics audio system and Sirius Satellite Radio. ABS is optional but we think that should be standard for the price. If you're on a budget but still want a comfortable rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan, there is a pair of V6 versions available — a 3.5-liter variety listing at just under $30,000 and a 2.7-liter version that starts at $24,000.

What's Edmunds' Take?

We're not sure who this car is aimed at, but it sure does look awesome. The V8-powered 300C seems like the real thrill ride — when do we get to drive one? — Brian Moody
