Mitsubishi Outlander vs. Subaru Forester

Re: Do It Yourself [ateixeira]

>> Admit it, you did not know about Subaru's diesel engine. Otherwise why did you mention it on your list of things Subaru doesn't offer that Mitsubishi does? I can’t admit that, because I told you about Subaru first diesel development on this very board over a year ago. This time I did not say that “Subaru doesn't offer” diesel, but I’ve said however that Subaru ... Read More...

Re: Do It Yourself [chelentano]

Yea, sure, I know Admit it, you did not know about Subaru's diesel engine. Otherwise why did you mention it on your list of things Subaru doesn't offer that Mitsubishi does? Have you ever thought why Lexus and Benz don’t use your “the real thing” in their luxury SUVs? Because those aren't the sportier manufacturers in that segment. BMW offers a true manual in the ... Re: Do It Yourself [ateixeira]

>> The rest of your post waters things down by comparing Mitsu corporate to FHI. Subaru of America, where both of us live, is on a huge roll... 'Subaru of America' does not build cars. It’s just a marketing office and sales numbers by local market/season may be misleading for the company health. The fact is that worldwide Fuji / Subaru sales decline every year: from ... Re: Chase Freedom Rewards [chelentano]

Dual-Clutch auto-manual True, but it's a shame the dual-clutch SST transmission didn't make it to the US-spec Outlander GT, though. Keep in mind that vehicle starts at $31 grand, and that's with cloth and no Navi. Plus - Mitsu said it was coming. may be it's not in the top 2 anymore, but top 3 or 5 Actually no, it did not make the top 6 in its class. The rest of your post ... Read More...

>> Mitsu got their CVT first, kudos, Subaru's is due out soon. Soon! Who cares for CVT? This is old tech for cheap cars. Mitsu has been already selling cars with modern smooth 6-speed auto, and Dual-Clutch auto-manual, paddle shifters and neutral logic. . >> But keep in mind our tried-and-true Forester is on CR's most reliable list, and Mitsubishi, while deserving ... Re: Advantages only count when it helps Mitsubishi [ateixeira]

>> It's a joint venture, and it's not like Chrysler is going to say "we used a Mitsubishi engine" or Hyundai is going to say "we sourced a shared Borg Warner AWD system" or Mitsu will say "we all sourced the CVT from JATCO". . Oh, I see, so you don't have any proof. You just made an assumption, but presented this as fact that all 3 cars "are supplied the same AWD system from ... Read More...

Re: 2.5 X Forester 2010 with Touring Package vs. 2010 Chevy Equinox [ateixeira]

>> Just glance over to the right, Forester gets a 9.0 and the Outlander gets a 8.8. Both good scores. Sante Fe also does well with an 8.8. These all good cars. The Outlander rating is for the older 2007 generation though. . >> I'm just saying, you should know there's more to the Forester than a large moonroof to earn a better score than your beloved Outlander. You still ... Read More...

Mitsubishi Outlander Noises and Sounds

Re: Mitsubishi outlander noise [shakleegirl]

I have the same problem with the whirring noise on my 2007. It started with the new Yokohama tires I put on last year. If it's wheel bearings, you're covered on the warranty. I may change the wheels temporarily to see if the noise persists. If it does, I'm heading right to the dealer for a diagnosis.... :( Read More...

Mitsubishi outlander noise

I have a 2007 outlander. It makes a whirring noise (pulsating) which feels like its coming from the wheels. I hope it's not wheel bearings. It only has 35,000 miles on it. The dealer said the tires were not wearing evenly. I just had an alignment, tire rotation & balance done. It still makes the noise. It is heard mostly when I'm declining at about 45 - 50 mph. Someone ... Read More...

Crossover SUV Comparison

Re: Outlander review link [ateixeira]

>> Looks like Mitsu bumped HP to 230 and put on 18" rims. That explains the good slalom numbers - those must be very low profile tires. Actually the 2007 Outlander XLS is also equipped with 18" tires. According to the article, 2010 Outlander GT was tested with pretty standard tires: Tire Size: 225/55R18 Tire Brand: Goodyear Tire Model: Eagle LS2 Tire Type: All-season ... Read More...
