2003 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS AWD 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 4A)

Review

We went in to look at the Galant and found the basic version of this vehicle to be of similar price. We test drove it and fell in love. It is perfect for us - small but with the AWD we really need in our climate. We opted for the totally loaded version and are very pleased.

Favorite Features

The safety features, side airbags, etc. We were involved in a three car collison- we were rearended; the car that hit us was nearly totaled - our Outlander only sustained about $900 damage- just cosmetic damage.

Suggested Improvements

Location of the mirror adjustments and fog light button are a little hard to maneuver while driving.

Review

We needed to replace our '98 Pathfinder. My wife won't drive a wagon or mini van. So, the usual "cute ute" suspects were Rav4,CRV & Forester. Did not consider Outlander due to power issues. Tried to buy the Toyota, but couldn't get the right deal. On the way to a 2nd Toyota dealer, we decided to stop and check out the Mitsubishi. She loved the style, it drove great, and power, while more would be nice, isn't that bad. Bottom line is we got a lot more for our money with the Outlander. Do not overlook it in your search for the right "cute ute".

Favorite Features

Terrific interior, super seats, great ergonomics. Generous rear seat room with ample storage. Impressive handling. Agressive & distinctive exterior styling. Infinity audio is mint. Value for the $$.

Suggested Improvements

20-25 more horsepower would be nice. Add rear wheel disc brakes. Cross bars on roof rack.

2003 Mitsubishi Outlander LS Fwd 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 4A)

Review

Put 1000 miles on car and it drives like a dream. Get 29 MPG overall driving. Thats 75 MPH thru the mts. Who said this car cant climb? It sure can, and no problem either. This car is very satisfying so far. I love it. To bad Mark Mitsubishi is giving Mitsubishi such a black eye thru underhanded delings and false advertising. Oh well, there must be some good dealers out there.

Favorite Features

Height Adjustable drivers seat, cruise control, quiet smooth ride. Easy to use radio and CD player.

Suggested Improvements

Use a heavier gauge sheet metal on the car. Other than that, its great.

Review

I Moved from Loaded 2000 Honda Accord to this one. Infact I liked this one much better. Yes, there are few short comings, but again not for this money. I saw, Edmunds road tests and some other guys reviews, saying power is weak and noise is more, but it better than 150HP Honda Accord, 4WD may be little slow, not this one and engine is very smooth. I compared and Drove CRV and this, I felt this is more comfy, easy to handle. Just drive and see you'll love it.

Favorite Features

Smooth engine, handling, plenty torque to start with

Suggested Improvements

Fuel Economy, and then Little more power help stop some critics.
