2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR 4dr Sedan AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 5M)


I've had my Evo for 2 years, and it's still going strong. I've kept up with the oil changes and other maintenance check-ups with no problems. The Evo's acceleration is very nice - it will kick you into your seat once the RPMs hit 4k (and you can pretty much keep your engine at 4k if you wanted to). Turbo lag exists, but I only notice it before 10mph - after that, it more than makes up for any time lost. Turning a corner is one of the best things to do in an Evo - it loves corners. When other cars slow down in a corner, the Evo seems to want to do the opposite. It's fancy rally-bred suspension and differential make cornering extremely easy. Simply put, this car is a blast to drive.

Best Features

Acceleration: You can effectively pass other cars on the freeway WITHOUT downshifting most of the time. If you do downshift, the car roars forward even faster, but usually this is never needed. Handling: The handling is also great. You can take roundabouts at a much higher speed than most any other car out there. (Please be careful.) And when you get to a twisty road - the fun begins. Seats: The two front seats are Recaro seats meant for holding you in place at high speed turns - I love them. In the back, my young son can sit comfortably in his booster seat with no problems. This is a performance car that can do the normal family sedan tasks with ease.

Worst Features

Fuel Efficiency: Most sport-sedans aren't very fuel-efficient, but getting it above 20mpg would be nice. Interior: The interior is pretty much econo-car quality. The plastics and trim are barely acceptable for a car that costs 32k. It would be nice for Mitsubishi to make a better interior for that kind of money. A 6th gear for the GSR version: The GSR version is a 5speed manual. At freeway speed, the 5th top gear makes the engine run at 3.2k - which is noisy. Road noise: Better sound insulation would help this. Trunk Space: The trunk space is minimal at best. But I have managed to go to Costco and fill it without problems. Still, making more trunk space would be nice.
