Endeavor timing belt and other issues

I was told this morning by a service writer that replacing the timing belt on my 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor was very important as it would cause engine failure. Also, the engine needs to be taken apart to replace the platinum-tipped spark plugs! Anyone have any idea how carbon gets into solenoid vents in the ignition system? Read More...

YES! I am the original owner of my Black 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor and it is about 40-50% oxidized. The roof of the car is 100% white. I read that this was caused by Mitsubishi skimping on the factory clear coat on only their black vehicles from 2003-2005. Mine is a 2005 AWD Endeaver 26600 mile on her and I am getting 12 mpg in the city and 15 on the hwy.And yes I have tried the tornato I have had my car in twice and they say its OK it winter and every car get bad mpg. filed a claim with mitsubishi and told them they SHOULD NOT put 17 mpg city 22 mpg hwy on the sticker if its not true. A few months ago, I purchased a 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor AWD LS with 32k miles. I love it! I live in Minnesota, and I've just recently found out how it drives on snow/ice. I am sorry to have to disagree with the statement "... M-ASTC. Yet, this appears to be what you get with 2005 traction control". M-ASTC stands for "Mitsubishi Active Skid and Traction Control", this is the name Mitsubishi gives to what is known in the industry as "Electronic Stability Control". Your experience with your 2005 Endeavor tells me three things: 1) That 2005 Endeavors do indeed have the option of a Traction Control Package, which includes the Mitsubishi Active Skid and Traction Control (M-ASTC) system. 2) That this traction control system worked well for you. 3) That you know what you're doing when it comes to adapting to snowy conditions. ... Ok, so I made some phone calls and did some more internet searching. Here's what I found: The 2005 Limiteds have the same traction control and anti-skid system as the 2006's. Interestinly, the 2005 owner's manual apparently doesn't say anything about Mitsubishi Active Skid and Traction Control (M-ASTC). Yet, this appears to be what you get with 2005 traction ... Hi Shifty, I hope you did have a safe 4th. Let me bother you with one more question. I've spoken with a dealer (not a Mitsubishi dealer)who has a 2005 Endeavor Limited with less than 1000 miles. Since he is some distance from me, I haven't seen the vehicle. He says it has traction control, but he can't find anywhere in the 2005 manual about the Mitsubishi Active Skid ... Read More...
