I have an 06' GT. I purchased this car in 08'. I really love the car. I have many pros and hardly any cons. I will say...I don't think this car is a good choice for a new driver. It has a lot of power and is quick to go. Mine is a manual transmission, which makes the driving experience that much better! I live in PA, and I have only ... Read More
Wish I had traction control, the winters really suck in NYC, I don't even take it out when it snows. I selling my 08 GS w 22k miles, love the car but i've gotta get AWD car, I go back and forth to PA & Long Island and if there's snow in the forcast the car does'nt go! A great deal for someone, $12 with 22k miles and 38k left on ... Read More
"...I was told there are some "issues" with certain model..." I'm not sue what issues you are referring to; performance, safety, reliability? I have a 2008 GT and it has given me flawless service. The Eclipse has been slammed by the auto press as not being a "true sports car" but that seems to be a matter of prefference. The Eclipse won't handle like a BMW but why would you expect ... Happy holidays everyone, My daughter have requested for a Mitsubishi Eclipse for about two years. She will have her license next year. So, I'm going to shop a Mitsubishi Eclipse for her pretty soon. I have just purchase a 2006 Eclipse, I have notice that when it is cold outside and I start the car up after it sitting overnight or for several hours that the brakes are very hard. I called a Mitsubishi Dealer up about this and they said this is normal for Eclipse. Is this right or is something wrong.
is that smell all the time or when you turn on the air. i have 15,000 miles on my gt now and i was thinking its the a/c air filter
We have a Mitsubishi 2006 gt. Love the car, but lately a horrible odor has been noticed around the right side of the engine and the driver side front wheel well. The dealer replaced the brake pads and fixed the rotors two days ago, alas the odor is back. Anyone else having these problems? Going back to the dealer tomorrow.
Hard to be impartial if you're selling them... As for reliability, the 2006 Mini is now on the recommended list for CR. As for a better buy, it depends on what you're after. I own both a Mini and a Mitsubishi; I like the Mitsubish, but I love the Mini. The Mini has much more personality than the Eclipse--the Eclipse is a great looking car, but the Mini gets second looks/comments ... Read More
Hi hockeyfreak4, I sell Mitsubishi's at Planet Mitsubishi in Modesto, Ca. I feel the Eclipse is the better buy. I am not trying to be partial, however the Eclipse is well made and easier to get. Sharice 209-524-3600
Yes, as sandra8410 points out, the Eclipse & the Mini are two pretty different vehicles. The Mini is kind of "nerdy cute" imo while the Eclipse GT is pretty much a sports car. My sister finally got her Eclipse Gt about 4 weeks ago. Total black & loaded, including optional ground effects. You definitly have two very different choices here. One more thing, if you are any kind of tuner / ... Read More
I have a 2006 and I think the owner's manual says 6 months/7500 miles although I did mine at 3000 just to get the "break-in gunk" out.
I have a 2006 Eclipse SE (Special Edition). It came with the sword finish wheels. The wheels got black stains in them the first time I cleaned the car. Luckily, Mitsubishi stood by their warranty and replaced the whole set of wheels. I think I will have them clear powdercoated to prevent it from happening again. My friend bought a 2007 Galant RalliArt with the same wheels...having the same problem. He ... Read More

Took advantage of the incentives on the 2006 models and purchased a 2006 Eclipse GT from the good folks at Dick Shirley Mitsubishi in Burlington. I have had 3 Misubishi's. All have a very good dependability record. However, my wife's 2001 Spyder is one of the most difficult cars to work on I've ever experienced (excluding vans). Why in the world did they design the intake over the spark plugs? It also seems to go through headlights rather quickly. The local mechanic said that was a common issue with the Eclipse. The last is the heater ... Read More
I owned a 1996 Eclipse GST and now own a 2006 GT. Some readers here may find my input of value. THE 1996 TURBO 5 SPD: The ’96 had 135K miles on it when I traded. Today (11/30) I purchased a 2006 Eclipse GT for $26500 with Premium and Accessory packages. There was a factory-to-customer AND factory-to-dealer rebate which expired at the end of the month, or I suspect I might have been able to do a couple $100 less. Found out about the dealer part of the incentive on Edmunds.com and that proved to be useful negotiating information. Some very useful advice plus a downloadble Excel ... Read More
Great write-up. To add to it, check out our Editor-in-Chief's blog - Karl on Cars. He talks about the 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT here: http://blogs.edmunds.com/.ee8c46f You can add your comments and ask him some questions there.
We have had out new Mitsubishi Eclipse 2006 since August 23 our 35 th anniversirty. This is my wife car and she just loves it. She has put 1734 miles on the car so far. We looked at the G6, Crossfire,350Z and R8. She liked the GT the best because she had a 1992 Dodge Stealth that was made by Mistubishi and she loved that car, so the Eclipse was the ... Read More
No resolutions so far, and dealer gave me the car back with wet carpets and wet dash stating the reason that it is not a big problem, its just air conditioning drainage clog. Sorry to hear about the flooded carpet in your brand new GT (2 weeks only). If the car is designed or assembled properly, it is very hard to understand how the air condition drain can be clogged in a brand new car. Just thought I'd post this to guage a response and get opinons. I'm in love with the new 2006 eclipse but sadly won't be buying one because of horror stories i've heard from people i've spoken to first hand about problems with Mitsubishi's service department/warranty repairs. I simply do not trust them or the 10 year warranty and that's sad because i'd happily spend the money on one otherwise. I haggled ... Read More
Most of the people that I see driving around in an eclipse seem to be in the 25-30 age category. Can they afford a 2006 gt, which with tax and license is going to cost them $27-30K? I think that one of the primary reasons for the eclipses popularity before was that it was a relatively inexpensive sports car, especially with the 0-0-0 financing for anyone with a beating heart. Anyone know how many 2006 Eclipses have been sold? I saw one the other day, and maybe one a month or so ago, which is not too many sightings on the road for the Central Coast of California. Most of the Mitsubishi car dealers have been surviving on used car sales for the past three years due to Mitsubishi's precipitous drop retail sales. The dealers are making an ill conceived move to take some extra profits on the new Eclipse. I also had some bad experiences with Mitsubishi dealership in Vancouver. In US, the 2006 Eclipse GS is MSRP US$19,399 (C$23,000) and the "Sun & Sound Package" is US$1500 (C$1770). When I went to the Mitsubishi dealership in Vancouver, I was totally shocked that they simply add another 10% on top of the US price (i.e. C$25,500) and add another 69% on the "Sun & Sound Package" (i.e. C$3000). I'm surprised to see no topics related to this extremely hot car. http://media.mitsubishicars.com/Photos?model=&kw=&page=1 The only thing that bothers me is interior. While it's ok looking, it doesn't have free space for aftermarket options. Where do I put Navigation system, for example?
Okay, let's try this again... An automotive website which cannot be named describes Mitsubishi's Concept-E for the next generation 2006 Eclipse. The director of the Mitsubishi Design Center says it has a 269HP V-6 powering the front-wheels and a 200HP electric motor powering the rear wheels. He also says it would run about $6-8K more for this hybrid powertrain. A 470HP AWD sports car for $30-32K sounds pretty cool -- and ... Read More
