Before buying a 2003 GS, I had a 2000
RS model. Although I traded up in
features, both cars drive exceptionally
well, especially on ice. I love the
Eclipse and would recommend it to
anyone. The only downfall of the car
is that it is not made for backseat
passengers, small kids fit comfortable,
but not adults. Overall, I would rate
the car an A+.
Great gas mileage for a sports car,
sporty design, feels very comfortable
driving the car.
More head room and leg room in the back
seat. Need to bring back more colors
to choose from - especially the bright
white, it was beautiful.
The body design is outstanding. It's a
future classic. The 6 cylinder 5 speed
manual has a lot of get up and go. For
the price, it beats the competition
hands down. Just be ready for everyone
that pulls up next to you at a light.
They all want to race you.
Acceleration and handling are excellent
and make driving this car a real
pleasure. I'm a big guy (6'1" and
250lbs.) and I've got plenty of room.
Sound system is very good.
1) Sun roof is pretty noisy when open
so a wind deflector might be a good
feature 2) the cup holder location was
not very well thought out from an
ergonomics perspective... particularly
on the manual transmission. Placing it
to the side of the gear shift might be
I've always wanted an Eclipse. I fell
in love with the body style from 1997,
and I like the new body style just as
much. I treated myself to a brand new
GTS as soon as I graduated college
this year, and I love it!
I love the body style, the leather
interior, the 6-disc CD changer, the
the radio controls built into the
steering wheel. The sun roof is also
an added plus.
Mileage so far hasn't been that great
so far...but it's still brand new so
I'm going to give it time.
An outsatnding value... bought it for
$20,400 and worth every penny. It has
plenty of giddyup, corners extremely
well and has the best body style of any
car in its class. I drive 110 miles
(round trip) to work each day and this
car makes the trip enjoyable.
Caution.... everyone wants to race you
at every red light... and the car can
creep up in speed without you
210 horsepower with 5 speed delivers
excellent acceleration... sound system
is excellent.... leg room in front is
Cup holders get in the way of shifting
and should be repositioned on future
models. Blind spot on driver's side
rear view and spoiler blocks out some
of rear view as well.
