Review of the 2001 Mitsubishi Diamante

  • A diamond best left in the rough.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Lots of standard equipment, attractive styling, available traction control, great sound system.

  • Cons

Stereo control panel is cluttered with buttons, poor-shifting transmission, less-than-acceptable construction.

  • What's New for 2001

This Mitsubishi model doesn't change much from last year, but product planners add tether anchors for child seats, foglights on the LS and new seat fabric and wheel cover for the ES. Greenies can rest easy knowing that it meets LEV standards for all states.

Near-luxury

Vehicle: 2001 Mitsubishi Diamante ES 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 4A)

I've had many Mitsubishi products, from Eclipse Spider to Galant; I thought I'd step up to their idea of a luxury auto. Overall, I have not been disappointed, but there are some small things that would have gone a long way to filling in my ideal of a true luxury vehicle.

Disappointing

Very disappointing vehicle. Poor assembly. Average Reliability. Recommend you look at other vehicles.

Diamante with performance

Vehicle: 2001 Mitsubishi Diamante ES 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 4A)

This car is great. The main thing I love is it has more HP than most of the muscle cars and 2 door sport cars you see on the road. Main thing it could have is RWD or 4WD. The front wheels spin to easy and when you are trying to get the car to go in the rain, here in the desert, it can be a problem. The looks a great. Gas milage is fine for what the cars compression is. You can't ask for high gas milage when you have a car like this. The only problem you will have is if you try to use Regular Unleaded instead of Premium.
