Handling and braking on the 2nd generation Mini are even better than before. Mini has figured out how to make electronic power steering (EPS), feel precise and authentic. More horsepower and torque are supplied by two new engines, which are also more fuel efficient. All of this increases the fun-to-drive factor even more.
The Mini's cockpit has been reconfigured, giving drivers much more room to work. A telescopic steering wheel has been added too. Ride comfort and road noise are improved as well, thanks to suspension and tire improvements. The rear seat isn't any bigger or easier to get in and out of than before.
Big improvements have been made, as the controls on the center stack are spread out and more clearly identified. The central speedo, larger than before, now houses some of the radio controls. Headlights and cupholders also work better than before. Luggage and cargo space are no better than before, as the rear seats don't fold flat.
Though reworked, the Mini's exterior design still radiates iconic goodness. Inside, the cabin retains its fun personality while trading away last year's excessive gimmicky details for improved functionality. Assembly quality is top-notch.
