    My 2007 S melted down on I75 in Lexington. MINI has dealers in Louisville and Cincinatti. While that isn't 5 minutes away from Lexington, its not 1000 miles, either. You didn't take the car to a MINI dealer after it failed, did you?

    I agree. I have just recently purchased a 2009 MINI Cooper Hardtop and when I invoke the "Sport" button the car becomes another animal instantaneously. I used it when I'm merging onto the highway. It's like a Jekyl and Hyde button.

    The 2007 is 2.5 to 3 inches longer than the 2006 and as far as the HP I would assume it is the same since they just changed it for the 2007 model. All the changes that were made were from the 2006 model to the 2007 model.

    I believe part of the problem may be that you are comparing a 2007 (the Mini) with a 2008 (the Smart). The change in the EPA rating system is skewing the discussion.     They tested the 2007 Cooper S at a 0-60 of 6.9 seconds so that number for the clubman just seems a little on the slow side. I wonder if maybe the gear ratios are different. 2007 MINI COOPER S

    My folks bought a 2007 Mini Cooper S with the automatic. I spent a bit of time driving it last week. The "sport" button invokes a very obvious difference in shift points in that version.

    I just ran this on leasecompare - 15k miles/36 months at $21100 = $310 a month, with nothing down (maybe acquisition costs). That's 11160 total. The 5000, $220 a month lease from BMWFS comes up to $12920 over the lease term. This is an easy call.

    You can check lease rates going through an independent leasing company and if you can get a much lower rate outside, they are probably lying about the buy rate.

    Starting Aug. 2007 all mini coopers will have a start-stop tech upgrade. If you drive the manual transmission and stop at a red light and put the car in nutral...the engine will turn off. When pressing down on the clutch...it will turn back on again. this will significantly improve on the MPG. Does anyone know if its possible to update a 2007 mini cooper S with this new technology?
