Review

My cooper is my favorite car ever driven. The handling is superior and unsurpassed by my other vehicles. I bought it just as a "fun" car and find myself driving it almost exclusively! If you get one, you'll NEVER regret it.

There is plenty of room inside this car, but I think the seats need to be somewhat longer. It also need larger visors and if you get a 2002, or 2003, invest in the additional cupholders. Very easy to install. They come standard in 2004.

I have had the car for over a year and I love the car itself... But, everytime I have brought it in for service it needed to be brought back again besause they can not get things right the first time. Sometimes not even the second, third, or fourth time either. (I have servce recipts to prove this point). Not to mention I always feel like a second class citizen. IE, "I am a Mini owner and threrfore not as important as a BMW owner". Sad but true... I am currently selling it and looking for a new car.

I've owned my Mini for about ten months now, having traded in an SUV. Being something of an anglophile, I've always loved British cars. I haven't experienced any mechanical difficulties. Having people stare takes a bit of getting used to, but in the end it is a good karma car, creating smiles everywhere I go.

Favorite Features

I love having the tachometer, outside temperature reading, and fuel use information on the steering wheel, and the speedometer being off to the right. The climate control system is great, and it's handy having radio/cd controls right on the steering wheel.

Suggested Improvements

I need cup holders that are actually usable.

I LOVE MY MINI. It's great for road trips and just driving to school everyday. It gets great milage and is just a joy to drive1

Favorite Features

My Mini is yellow with a white top. I would have to say that the colors are my favorite. That and the heated seats.

Suggested Improvements

The white rims are a pain in the butt to keep clean! But they look so good when they are!

Pip Pip Rules the Road

Our Mini is called Pip Pip! This is absolutely the most fun-to-drive car on the road! With the DSC stability control this car cherishes the curves in a twisty road. With the Six speed gearbox it insures that the pizza delivery boy is left behind at the stoplights(My wife's true experiences!) If you keep your foot out of the engine your gas mileage is about 34 mpg on the road and about 22 in town. We have had some nigglies - fogged up rear passenger taillight, defective power steering pump and a leak on the rear moonroof quarter panel that stained the headliner. All items repaired at no cost - and with a smile by Brecht MINI in Escondido!

Favorite Features

With the moonroof and the glass around the car you do not have the feeling of being in a small car. Once you have a nav system you'll never go back to maps!

Suggested Improvements

Larger cup holder in the front somewhere - I keep large drinks in the rear cup holder but you need to be a contortionist or have a very good chiropractor as a friend to continually do that.

Big Problem

The car has had a bad stumble from a standing start since I bought it. The service advisor at the dealership told me that it was "tranny slap" and a "characteristic" of the car. A representative from MINIUSA told me that they are aware of the problem. It is software related and also used the word "characteristic" to describe it. What's the difference between a "defect" and a "characteristic"?

This car is fun to drive everyday. I have had no problems through the first 6000 miles. The only critigue I have is that the radio should play louder.

I found that if I really drive it like a sports car, the city gas mileage drops down to the 12-15mpg range! Drive it like your grandma and maybe you can get 25mpg. The leather is really cheap quality. After 3 months it is already creasing and showing signs of wear. Other than that it is definately a fun car, very safe and performs well. Be aware the service is done by BMW and that can lead to some frustration.

Favorite Features

The dual pane sunroof is awesome. Auxillary input on the HK stereo lets you plug an iPod directly into the stereo! Seat warmers, Auto AC and rain- senseing windshield wipers are nice options.

Suggested Improvements

Better leather, Auto-up windows, locking glovebox, and automatic memory position seats would be welcome additons.

THE CUP HOLDERS ARE ALL WRONG. INSTALLED AFTERMARKET WHICH HELP THE SITUATION. SO CUP HOLDERS ARE NOW JUST HOLDERS FOR "STUFF". YES WE ALLOW EATING & DRINKING IN OUR BABY. SUN VISORS ARE WAY TOO SHORT, NEED TO BE ABLE LENGTHEN -DOES NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH SHIELDING. WOULD LIKE A BEEP RESPONSE ON THE REMOTE WHEN LOCKING & UNLOCKING.

Favorite Features

OVER-ALL HANDLING IS SUPERB. MECHANICAL IS GREAT (TRANSMISSION). DESIGN & APPEARANCE.

CUP HOLDERS. SUN VISORS. REMOTE BEEP SYSTEM.
