1994 Mercury Villager 2 Dr GS Passenger Van
Review
We bought our Villager when it was almost 3 years old and found it to be a pleasure from the word go. It's now somewhat beat up, but still going strong. We have a few defects that we've learned does not affect it's performance. These include a gassy smell in the winter when it first starts and a hum in the fuel pump. Also, the windshield washer has always been temperamental as well as an engine light. But these have been minor things for a car that has lasted for almost 13 years for us with minimal repairs. I'm sorry they discontinued the Villager.
Favorite Features
Reliablity. Comfortable driver's seat. Car-like feel.
Suggested Improvements
They made most needed improvements in later models indluding another sliding door.
Wonderful Van 232,000 mi

Review
The Villager has been fantastic in reliability. It's just turned 232,000 miles and I've never put new brakes on it yet !The engine has never had a tune up and has the original plugs I'd guess ! It doesn't burn a drop of oil but recently has leaked some from the main seal. I'd like to find another one with 100,000 mi and buy it to run another 120,000 cheap miles.
Favorite Features
The seats are excellent and I like the trip computer info center. The body will go another 5 yrs easily.
Suggested Improvements
The a/c and antifreeze fluid levels can be a pain to retain proper levels for heating. Getting the air purged out is quite a progect.
still uncertain..........

bought this car a few weeks ago, (used) already having issues like engine light constantly on, cant find the problem, cigarette lighter doesn't work. ( need to charge cellphone adn plug in tv/videos for the kids) Not enough cargo space if you have children and travelling with luggage always or even not enough space for groceries, needs a front cup holder and light about the steering wheel area to sxee...i was told its a cross between a nissan and aford, hard to find parts to fix it...nice looking car..still uncertain about all the issues i am being faced with

Good Car!

Review
Our car is just shy of 12 years old and is just hitting 120,000 miles. We bought it new. It has taken me through the bulk of my 5 children's growing up years. It is a great driving car, gets good gas mileage, has good acceleration, and drives like a car. We had a transmission fix, hose repairs, and general maintenence issues, but nothing horrible. I hate to sell it, but it is getting a bit old now and I'm ready for something new. If they made this car again, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Favorite Features
Great acceleration, esp. when merging into traffic from an on ramp. I always felt safe in this car. It just drives great

We bought this used, and have had a good experience. Our only problem was with the AC. We hauled kids, dogs and luggage, and found the seat configuration versatile, although the seat is a bit heavy to take out.
Favorite Features
Seat configuration was user friendly, and it handled beautifully!

Would Buy it all over again

1994 Mercury Villager 2 Dr LS Passenger Van
Review
I purchased the vehicle with 86000 miles on it. I now have 145000 and have had very little trouble. I have two small children - the sliding rear seat is great and a 13" TV fits perfectly on the middle seat when folded down. Enough cargo room for frequent 700+ mile trips to see family. I also love the Nissan engine's reliability and power. This van has been great.
Favorite Features
A lot of fun to drive - great handling and good acceleration. Very roomy for the smaller minivan size. A good combination.
Suggested Improvements
Better Fuel economy.

Review
This was the first van that I had ever purchased and because of this van, it will not be my last. This vehicle was so much fun to drive. Once you start driving it, you forget that you are in a van. The drive is so smooth. It's nothing like the drive of a SUV thats very bumpy. I also own a Jaguar and believe it or not, I would rather drive the Mercury Van than the Jag. I would highly recommend this van to anyone who is intersted in a van.
Favorite Features
The ditigal dash board was my most favorite feature. However, the van that I have is totally loaded with the keyless entry, sliding sunroof, both cassett & disc player, 4 captain chairs... and the list goes on. I really can't think of anything that I do not like about this van.
Suggested Improvements
The only improvement suggestion thatI can thank of is the passenger areas in the back should be a little more roomer. Other than that, DON'T CHANGE A THING.
150,000 but not goint strong.

1994 Villager Purchased new has been a very good van for the most part. But when there are issues, guaranteed to be expensive. Past issues include air conditioning hoses, front/rear. Multiple sensor failure, and now problem with sensor or electronics controlling the transmission. Lack of / or expensive aftermarket parts for the villager is ruining my experience.
Favorite Features
Car like ride. Size. Styling at that time. Smooth transmission. Versatility.
Suggested Improvements
Lack of / or expensive aftermarket parts. Failure of the air conditioning components. 3.0 v6 Slightly underpowered.
Run away!
Vehicle
1994 Mercury Villager 2 Dr Nautica Passenger Van
Review
If you are thinking about buying one of these things, let me give you two words of advice: RUN AWAY. I bought my villager with about 65,000 miles on it, and it now has about 105,000 miles. In that time period, I have replaced 2 water pumps ($250 each), 2 cv boots ($120 each), had a fuel vacuum leak ($800 to track it down over several months), a fuel pump replaced ($250), a thermostat replaced ($100), a radiator ($324), and an a/c hose ($300). Also, the ignition switch is defective (it locks me out at the time of its own choosing). If that isn't enough, the parts inside the van are always falling apart.
Favorite Features
The fact that I can sell this vehicle to someone else.
Suggested Improvements
I'm not touching this one. I sound too bitter as it is!
