I have bought a 2002 mercury sable and I have a question about buying an aftermarket stereo. I have researched many kits so that the aftermarket stereo will fit where the old one did but I have noticed something. The rear defroster is on the other side of kit. robertplattbel and bigdan1: I owned a 2000 Merc. Sable wagon which developed problems first identified in the power steering pump and later in the rack and pinion assembly. The latter would've been replaced but wasn't because the car was totaled in an unfortunate accident. Please do yourselves a favor and have this checked out as it is a somewhat costly repair ... hi I have Mercury sable 2002 3.0 liter engine 12 valve.32000 miles,I am hearing noise where the camshaft and valves,is like a old engine belt doing that but I replace with new one and sound coming top of the engine.I had it 2001 mercury sable had a same proplem dealer replace all the valves cost to 980.dollar.I dont want to pay 980 dollar again,if there is any recall ... Hood doesn't fit snug against passenger side headlight

The hood on my 2002 Mercury Sable (station wagon) does not fit snugly against the passenger side headlight. I can stick my finger in the space between the headlight and the hood. Was recently in an accident, had the front of the car repaired, but they didn't get this fixed. The body shop showed me a similar Sable with the same problem. I don't know if it was like this ... I recently replaced the resistor and the blower motor on my 2002 Mercury Sable. I know very little about auto mechanics but was able to do it with no problem. In a phone call wherein I described the problem, the dealer said it would take $360 to replace a switch. The problem was that the fan didn't always come on, and if it did come on, it had only two speeds - off or high. ... Read More...

Look in your owner's manual. But I believe there are two fuse boxes. One just underneath the dash near the drivers door, and another "black box" with fuses underneath the hood. Good luck. Read More...

2002 Mercury Sable: since it's 30,000 mile dealer service the car has needed two new fuel injectors in 2,000 miles. The car came back form it's service leaking transmission fluid because the dealer over-filled the transmission fluid. Then it started miss-firing and running ruff. Price? I don't know. But, I have a 2000 Sable LS with 156,000 miles on the std Vulcan V6. Bought it w/ 16,000 miles. With 55,000 miles on the one you're looking at, if there are no maint records, I would change all fluids (cooling, trans, & oil). (At 55,000, trans & cooling should have been done twice already.)
